I am honored to be performing tomorrow (Thursday, August 6) in collaboration with @unitedvoicesforpeace for Hiroshima 75th Memorial “Peace+Art+Music” Global Broadcast presented in partnership with the city of Hiroshima, Japan
I'll be singing What A Wonderful World with Yuko Kudo @yukoislovelivelife and my husband Dan Urness on the trumpet.
Also, I'll be presenting a segment from a play called These Children's Summer, which is a collection of diaries and letters written by the actual victims of Hiroshima.
This play is very close to my heart. I first encountered this play at 17 when I performed it with my HS drama group at The United Nations Disarmament Conference held in my hometown, Ishikawa. Then when I was studying theatre in NYC, I obtained the English translation of the play and performed a segment at school. 16 years later, I am honored to be granted special permission from Chijinkai Shinsha to perform this very same segment "I Want to Look Up at that Blue Sky." by the actual Hiroshima victim, Kimiko Suetsugu, who passed away at the young age of 25.
I hope this reminds us of the horrible violence that should never be repeated, and the simple beauty of life.
It's a 10-hour virtual event, and our portion will be streamed at 10AM (EDT) on Thursday, August 6th.

（日本時間）本日夜、広島市共催のヒロシマ７５周年記念「平和＋アート＋ミュージック」国際放送に出演させていただきます。
"What A Wonderful World"という楽曲をアーティストの工藤優子さん @yukoislovelivelife と歌います。夫のダンも編曲／トランペットとして参加します。
そしてこの度、地人会新社様に特別に上演許可をいただき「この子たちの夏」という朗読劇の一部を発表させていただきます。ヒロシマ・ナガサキの被爆者の方々のお手紙と日記が集められた
この作品は個人的にとても思い入れのある作品です。高校生の頃に石川県で開催された国連軍縮会議にて、当時所属していた演劇グループとこの作品を発表したのが出会いでした。その後アメリカの演劇学校に在籍中、（当時の）地人会様に英訳台本を送っていただき、その一節【あの青空を仰いでみたい】を学校で発表しました。これは、ヒロシマ被爆者であり２５歳という若さでこの世を去られた末次君子さんの日記の一部です。今回も同じ一節を英語で発表させていただきます。世界中の方々に「命の大切さ」が伝わることを祈っております。
このイベントは１０時間に渡りオンラインで開催されます。
