Tried the new 11-course tasting menu from the new executive chef of #Haku, Rob Drennan, with sake pairing! Chef is from 3-star Michelin restaurant Maaemo from Norway as R&D Chef, it’s really yummy! I especially like Ika - squid with caviar on crispy tart, u can savour the complex crunchy (caviar) vs soft (squid)textures with umami taste in one bite! Nice pairing with Fu Junmai sake, it’s refreshing. Lobster - French blue lobster consommé in pudding texture with lobster meat, salmon roe & tomato jelly on top, it’s rich & umami, lobster fans will surely like it! Other courses r all very yummy & don’t forget to try the desserts! U’ll be surprised as well! 😋😋I’ll be back! Celebrate bday with Agnes again! Cheers! 😋😋🍶

For this video, I went down to Central Thai Kitchen at City Square Mall to try their 3KG Pad Thai Platter! Central Thai Kitchen is a Halal-certified Thai restaurant that serves authentic Thai cuisine at affordable prices. This was not a timed challenge platter, so I took my time and enjoyed the really delicious Thai offerings in this 3KG platter.
For this platter, I was served enormous portions of Pad Thai with Prawn, Basil Minced Chicken, Honey Chicken and Thai Prawn Cake.
The Basil Minced Chicken was well done and did not fall into the common trap of adding the Basil leaves too early, which tend to cause the leaves to turn bitter.
The Honey Chicken came nicely battered with a luscious sauce that did not disappoint. The largest serving was the Pad Thai, which was extremely flavourful and nuanced. You could almost imperceptibly taste the individual components, the flavours lingering momentarily on the tongue, before merging into a medley of pleasantness.
However, the star of the platter for me was the Prawn Cake, which was lightly battered and fried and was made with real prawns minced up with barely any filler. It came with a sweet chilli sauce and it was a true treat to bite through the crunchy exterior, only to be greeted by the moist and tasty interior. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and it was difficult to not try to take it slow and savour the platter.

Cincalok omelette is one of those delightful Nyonya dishes that risks becoming forgotten in our modern day lives because it's so humble and simple. But, as they say, simple and good is quite often the hardest balance to achieve!
Unlike its other Nyonya relatives, this rather decadent omelette is found in many a Peranakan restaurant menu, relatively hidden away compared to its celebrated street food cousins.
Cincalok are tiny fermented shrimp that are brined in salt and used to season the eggs. Also better known as krill, these underrated crustaceans are found in abundance in the sea, a favourite staple of whales, penguins and seals that hunt them for their excellent nutritional value. They carry more antioxidants than fish, are low in fat and are a rich source of omega-3. They're also part of the secret to the crunchy texture that makes this egg dish so special. ;)
Our recipe uses five hen's eggs and a perfect combination of select ingredients to achieve those fluffy pockets and an even texture that you can savour with every bite. Best paired with rice or porridge and your choice of meat dish from our recipe collection, this dish is a great mini celebration of all things worth preserving in our community.
