One of the highlights of our Kyushu trip is the Yufuin no Mori train ride. Here’s why!

⭐️ It’s free with the North Kyushu JR pass (but need reservation). I got the pass from Klook before my trip, because the train tickets sell fast.
⭐️ It is a forest themed train with full glass panel at the driver’s area, as well lounge area for you to enjoy the scenery
⭐️ The snack bar is the best. Apart from souvenirs, special beverages and desserts, they have bentos designed by Michelin star restaurant "Sushi Takemoto"

So happy that we are riding the limited edition newly launched #HELLOKITTY shinkansen!

Initially we thought we couldn't make it since we book from Kyoto station yesterday (try luck) because seats were full from Osaka, but we manage to grab seats from Okayama instead 😂 especially now summer holidays are ongoing and hello kitty fans from all over the world are not missing this opportunity to ride the bullet train! 🚅 It's covered under JR passes (Kodama 741) but for non reserve seats. Heading to Yamaguchi prefecture now!

Why go to Matsumoto? All the things I was planning to do on my cancelled Japan trip in Nagano prefecture and the Japanese alps!

A new series sharing places from my Japan wishlist, to give you ideas for places to go and introduce things to do in Japan you might not have thought of, and hidden spots away from the usual tourist destinations. Here's why I wanted to go to Matsumoto, and all the things you can do on day trips around Nagano prefecture, including Matsumoto Castle, artwork by Yayoi Kusama, Daio Wasabi Farm, cycling in Azumino with views of the Japanese alps, hiking in the mountains in Kamikochi, the amazing snow walls of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route and Lake Suwa (from the anime film Your Name!). I've also included some train passes you can get for the area, including the JR East Pass I was going to use.
