(English writing below)

So last Sunday, I went to a plant stall to do a CNY Live.
As per my usual practice, I would always buy something from the shop if I use its premises. I don’t take advantage of other people’s businesses.
That day, I wanted to preempt the plant stall staff but in my haste to start my Live, I plain forgot about it. So the husband went about looking for a plant to buy on my behalf.
There were about three staff - two ladies and the gentleman standing behind me in this photo.
Halfway through my Live, the male staff saw the handphone screen of the Husband’s.
“Wah! It’s Live ah?” He excitedly asked the husband. “How to see?!”
“You can see on Facebook!”
The staff whipped out his mobile phone and opened the Facebook app. Then the husband typed in my profile name and what followed next was comical.
I wasn’t aware as I was very focused on presenting to my Live audience.
After the Live ended, I looked through the list of Likes to see who engaged with my video.
And I was wondering why there were some foreign names.
Then the husband told me what transpired.
Yesterday while editing the Live for my Youtube upload this week, I realised at one point in time, the staff also waved to my camera and flashed his handphone screen of my Live. 😂
I bet he somewhat understood what I said, despite it being in Mandarin.
It was an interesting moment because few days ago, a lady PM me to inquire about my Bazi consultation fee. (It’s all listed at www.qianyu.sg/consultations btw)
She told me the information in my videos were accurate and valuable.
I thanked her for telling me because I had never seen her name appeared in my engagement list.
She told me she was shy.
This reminded me of a Bazi client who told me the same thing. That client said she had always been low profile, so she did not think to Like my posts even though she benefitted from it.
I told the client:
But what if I stopped writing and filming because I received no or little affirmation from the audience?
She didn’t answered me.
I laughed and said I would not stop because I had made an aspiration in the past. I had made it my lifetime goal to keep my words.
But to be only taking and not giving is always selfish. I am human. And humans always need to feel belonged in one way or another. Even more so when I am writing about unorthodox topics.
Giving encouragement is a form of kindness and showing appreciation, be it through post engagements or telling me now.
The good thing about direct post engagement is that it benefits others, who may need the message more than us.
Since I started weekly uploads to YouTube in June, a lot more queries come in every month. A number of them know me, due to their FB friends sharing my videos on their timeline.
Thing is, their FB friend does not have a clue that they watched my video and came to seek my service.
We don’t go around telling the whole world our problems, you see.
Sometimes, it’s easier to tell a stranger who has the solutions, than a friend who can only tell you to think about happier things.
I have been posting online for 3.5 years and have met hundreds of people. Perhaps to you, it seems that I am helping people.
But like what Buddha says, the sentient beings are here to help us actualise our spiritual practice, to attain enlightenment and Buddhahood.
It is a reciprocal cycle. The more people I see, the more I realise how transient this Samsara world is. The more I write and film, the clearer I am in my thinking and aspirations.
I don't wish to have the kind of destinies I deal with, so I am more careful in my doings and thoughts. I see first-hand how greed, ignorance and anger can kill people, so I have opened up my heart to give out more love and let go of stubborn beliefs that benefit no one.
So thank you to you, you and you for helping me to be a better person and giving me a holy purpose in this life. I have never been happier in my entire lifetime and I want to do this for as long as I live.
I hope I can do the same for you, so that you will do the same for others too.

More Eggs 🥚
Everybody loves eggs, so how about some more egg idioms this week?
1⃣ tough/hard egg to crack
2⃣ sb. can’t boil an egg
3⃣ kill the goose that laid the golden eggs
4⃣ goose egg
5⃣ lay an egg
--
Remember the expression “tough/hard nut to crack”? Well, 1⃣ “tough/hard egg to crack” has exactly the same meaning. Ex: For many language learners, English is a tough egg to crack.
For many language learners, English is a tough egg to crack.(對許多英語學習者來說,英語還蠻難搞的。)
Eggs are probably one of the easiest things to cook—just plop them in a pot and boil for three minutes. 2⃣ So if someone “can’t boil an egg,” it means they’re a bad cook, or can’t cook at all. Ex: Lots of millennials can’t boil an egg.
Lots of millennials can’t boil an egg.(許多九年級生連水煮蛋都不會。)
If you’ve read Aesop’s Fables, you know the story The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs. A farmer owns a goose that lays a golden egg every day, and thinks there must be a big lump of gold inside it. So he kills it and cuts it open, only to find no gold. 3⃣ “Kill the goose that laid the golden eggs” therefore came to mean to destroy a source of wealth through stupidity or greed. Ex: Why would he quit his civil service job? That would be killing the goose that laid the golden eggs.
所以kill the goose that laid the gold eggs可延伸為「(因貪心或愚笨而)自斷財路」,如:Why would he quit his civil service job? That would be killing the goose that laid the golden eggs.(為什麼他要辭掉那個公務員工作?
Speaking of goose eggs, 4⃣ a goose egg can also mean a score of zero in a game/contest or on a test. Ex: I got a goose egg on the quiz this morning. And finally, 5⃣ “lay an egg” can mean to fail in a publicly embarrassing way. Ex: The teacher tried to tell a funny joke, but he laid an egg.
I got a goose egg on the quiz this morning.(我今天早上小考考了零分。) The teacher tried to tell a funny joke, but he laid an egg.(那位老師本來想說個笑話,但他搞砸了。)
1. plop「

(after the job is done, fetch the translator)譯成「翻完之後,不要給譯者留活口」(after the job is done, kill the translator)之後,實在很難找到可以與之匹敵的胡譯瞎譯,直到最近,為了研究中英譯者如何處理「共匪」的英譯,為了暸解中譯「共匪」對應的英文原文是啥,竟然發現無敵的「丟一顆石頭……

//Goldwater, in his heart, believed that he was right. Right about the waste and distaste of the “welfare state” the Johnson administration had built. Right about the need for absolute military strength in the face of Soviet expansion. Right about a foreign policy that would make George Bush’s look downright friendly.
Yes, Goldwater was an extremist and proud of it. His Republican convention acceptance speech is best remembered for the line “I would remind you that extremism in defense of liberty is no vice.”
On the subject of foreign policy he was crystal clear about where he would lead the nation. Simply put: leave the United Nations and never look back, break off all relations with the Soviet Union, and use tactical nuclear bombs to fight communists in Vietnam and other Commie strongholds. Not surprisingly, many of his proclamations during the campaign were outrageous. He was quoted as saying he’d like to “lob one into the men’s room of the Kremlin and make sure I hit it.”
Small wonder Johnson’s only concern was the extent of the landslide to come. The Democrats quickly seized upon Goldwater’s “let’s nuke ’em when we have the chance” philosophy and came up with their own unofficial slogan to counter “In Your Heart You Know He’s Right.” Their retort: “In Your Guts You Know He’s Nuts.” It didn’t stop there. Bumper stickers appeared with “Goldwater for Halloween” and “Vote for Goldwater and Go to War.”
To top it all off, the Johnson advertising team created the famous “Daisy” commercial. It showed a little girl plucking petals from a daisy as a nuclear countdown ends in a huge mushroom cloud explosion. President Johnson’s voiceover was, roughly, “vote for me or God help us all.”

Elizabeth experiences a vision of Paris at the turn of the 20th century, in which she spots Sally and gives chase; the peaceful setting turns nightmarish and Elizabeth is forced to witness Sally burning. Elizabeth wakes up shortly after the events of Episode One, where Atlas (Karl Hanover) is ready to kill her while his men remove the corpse of Comstock and capture Sally. A vision of Booker appears to her and tells her information to give to Atlas about Dr. Suchong (James Yaegashi), who Booker claims can help Atlas escape the sunken department store in exchange for returning Sally. Left alone, Elizabeth begins to explore the store and finds her dead body impaled to the wall. She realizes that she was killed by the same Big Daddy that impaled Comstock. A brief flashback reveals that the Luteces assisted Elizabeth in implementing a plan to bring events to a conclusion she is happy with. The plan had a hefty price: it collapsed her quantum-superposition, effectively leaving all alternate versions of herself in their own respective universes, and removed her ability to open tears and seeing into potential futures. This left Elizabeth armed with only her knowledge from her books and random flashes of memory of what she saw behind the doors, including glimpses of future events. Elizabeth continues onward, assured that she chose this option and that everyone involved would play out their parts that she previously had seen to reach her desired conclusion. The voice of Booker, who states he is simply a facet of Elizabeth's subconscious, helps to guide her through the Splicers that still inhabit the store.
