Put in Christ and Sealed with the Holy Spirit
“to the end that we should be to the praise of his glory, we who had before hoped in Christ: in whom you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is a pledge of our inheritance, to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:12-14 WEB)
The word “sealed” in Greek is “sphragizó” which means “to stamp a seal upon”. In ancient times, private documents or items were put into equivalents of envelopes or boxes and sealed with wax.
The seal showed both ownership authorization. For example, if a document arrived bearing the king’s seal, the recipient would know that the package came from the king, and that he had authorized the contents of the message or the items.
The apostle Paul used this illustration to show that we are the precious cargo. When we placed our faith in Jesus, we were put “in Christ” like being put into a box (the true Ark of the Covenant), and then the box was sealed with the Holy Spirit like a king’s wax seal.
It is a picture of how secure your salvation is in Christ. Thanks to this, we know that we can never lose our salvation. No man nor devil, not even yourself, can remove the seal and open the box.
This sealed box is being kept until an appointed time.
“who by the power of God are guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” (1 Peter 1:5 WEB)
When the Rapture happens, that’s when the “sealed box” will be opened by God—your mortal body will be transformed into a glorified body. Your salvation will be full and complete—in body, soul and spirit.
You will burst forth in glorious light, into the fullness of eternal life. Then you shall reign with Christ in His kingdom.
Dear brethren, because you are sealed with the Holy Spirit, you can confidently know and believe that the inheritance in Christ is yours.
Every blessing of God is yes and amen for you, and the only part of our salvation we are still waiting for is the transformation of our body!
Our mortal body even at its optimum condition is definitely no match for the glorified body, but health, strength and youth are earthly blessings for us to enjoy through faith.
