Tomorrow is the Dragon boat festival (端午節), well.. It already is in Asia. No #zongzi (粽子; rice dumpling) for me this year, so here's one from last year! 😕 My mom makes it every year as one of the family traditions. However, instead of using 100% glutinous rice, we swap 50% to brown rice, which is healthier, and the texture is more chewy! Traditional zongzi is actually quite high in calories and fat, as well as high GI due to the glutinous rice. It is recommended to increase your vegetable intake along with the meal. Also, can have fruits sch as pineapples, papaya, and kiwi after the meal to aid the digestion.
每年家裡都會自己包粽子。根本沒印象有吃過外面的粽子,因為我們家的粽子一半是糙米一半糯米。這樣比較健康,也比較好消化。粽子的熱量其實很高,所以建議蔬菜要多吃一點。飯後也可以吃些含有酵素的水果,例如鳳梨、奇異果或木瓜來幫助消化。😊
