Even though these third wave restrictions are driving me absolutely bonkers, I’m trying to take this time to (finally!) catch up on my blog. 😅
This past December I had the most incredible experience travelling throughout Sri Lanka and I’ve been slowly documenting it on my blog - head on over (link in bio) to read about my experiences in the most magical country!

𝓓𝓪𝓶𝓫𝓾𝓵𝓵𝓪 𝓬𝓪𝓿𝓮 𝓽𝓮𝓶𝓹𝓵𝓮 🏜
The Dambulla Cave Temple was built in the first century BC and it is UNESCO World Heritage since 1991. It is the largest, best-preserved cave-temple . It is located in Dambulla and it was a stop over location for us before reaching Kandy which is about an hour away. Build on top of a hill it requires you to climb to see the cave temple and unfortunately this trip I did not have the time to climb up and it was very very hot and humid on that day 😅Nevertheless, we still enjoyed viewing the golden Buddha statue and we were lucky enough to drop by on Vesak Day which essentially commemorates the birth, enlightenment, and death of Buddha which is believed to have happened on the same day. .

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Fun fact 🤪: The black spots on Buddha’s statue are actually bee hives🐝. And also during the Vesak Period, you will see the streets lined with the Buddhist Flags all over the country. You can Google up for more info on these flags as it goes way back in history and is an important symbol to the Buddhist especially in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰🧿
On the eve of International Women’s Day tomorrow, I am reminded to be grateful for my rights and freedom as a woman in this country and in the world today. Our mothers and grandmothers have fought hard so that we may stand up and speak out today. We still have a long way to go, to be sure, but I am hopeful. I have to be, because, I need to know my own daughter will enjoy the same rights I do now and even more. I need to know that she will be safe and supported and able to follow her dreams, whatever they may be. But even, as I say this, there are still so many women in the world fighting for their freedom and for their right to be seen, heard, protected and supported. There are so many untold stories of women struggling for even the most basic of human rights, such as safety, education and health care. And that is why it is one of my greatest honors each year to be able to host the N-Peace Award Gala where we recognize and celebrate some incredibly brave women and men who are working towards a more equitable and peaceful future for women in their countries. From Afghanistan, Pakistan, Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, and Nepal, the winners of the 2018 #npeaceawards are truly remarkable and an inspiration to us all. THE ASIAN ACCENT TEST | CAN YOU TELL ASIAN ACCENTS APART?
I’m not particularly good at doing a wide range of Asian accents as you can tell from my videos; but if I was, could you tell them apart?
Can YOU tell Asian accents apart?
Or...do they all sound like "ching chong chang" to you?
As racially insensitive that may have been, there are still many people who have that perception of Asian accents.
On the other end, there are people who feel confident at telling Asian accents apart. Mostly Asians.
Anyway, whether you’re an Asian accent novice or an Asian accent expert, here is a test to see just how familiar you REALLY are at Asian accents.
I’ll play 19 short audio clips of 19 Asian accents corresponding to 19 Asian countries. If you want to test yourself, listen to the accents, note down which country you think the accent is from, and at the end of this video, I’ll tell you the answers.
Bonus points if you can figure out whose voice it is. Most of them are famous.
Ok. So, here we go!
In no particular order, here are the 19 Asian countries / regions I cover:

- Vietnam
- Malaysia
- Nepal

- Hong Kong / Southern China

* Hong Kong is not a country but have distinct enough accents so I included them. Same can be said about Taiwan if we're going by UN-recognized countries.
*EDIT: I screwed up the Nepal one, sorry guys :(
In my opinion, if you got over 10 right, I think you did pretty well. If you got less than six, you’re probably not Asian. If you got close to 19, that's pretty impressive.

I didn't record my wife going up because I honestly felt the situation was very dangerous and I was trying my hardest to hold the ladder still. Donny knowing how I feel about my wife said that I should have let her fall.....but I told him it wasn't high enough to kill her.....but it WAS high enough to wound her. And she'd be even MORE hard to handle if wounded. So I was trying to keep her safe for the sake of my own sanity. And while holding the ladder I was staring straight ahead anyway....so you wouldn't have been able to see her climbing anyway.
Oh...and for the losers that are going to comment about me not getting the copter and a girl "saving" me. It made more sense since she is much lighter than me to go up the ladder......and for me to hold the ladder since I have some upper body strength.
