Best. Day. Ever.

As a stay home mum of 3, I don't usually get to rest much because of the never ending chores at home. With the Papa away till midnight on most weekdays or not even being able to make it home like tonight, our house is almost always like a war zone and everything is just messy and chaotic. Well, that said, thankfully we are all not that particular about being neat and the kids have said repeatedly "Our house is very cosy what."

Anyway, it was a long day today and I had gone to the school for PV duties, brought the boy out, travelled to get bubble tea, went home to fix lunch, washed the dishes, did up the giveaway post, put the laundry in the washer and that was when I fell asleep together with the kids in the late afternoon. I woke up with a start, remembering that I had to hang the laundry and make dinner for everyone.

Then I heard whispers coming from the living room saying "Quick, we haven't finished yet" and was wondering what game the kids were playing. When I stepped out of my room, I saw a neat pile of folded laundry on the sofa and to my amazement, all the clothes had been taken out of the washer and hung up nicely already. What?! I thought I must be dreaming.

The big girl told me she spent 45 minutes hanging up all the clothes herself - she had to stand on a chair to reach the top rack - and then the sister woke so they spent half an hour keeping, folding and arranging all the clean laundry together. The boy came out just in time to sort the socks and help out with the last bit.

Wow. I think my decision of not getting a dryer is paying off, you know, and these kids have shown how efficient and helpful they can be if they want to.

Well, if only everyday was like today.... Lol. Mai hiam. I am really very thankful when it happens and that they allowed me to get that bit of rest so I can go on strongly.

Putting this on record so I can tell them "Remember the day when you let Mama sleep and surprised me by doing all the laundry yourselves? Let's do it again, shall we?"

We had an awesome weekend gathering with our friends and I was so glad to host some of my bestest pals whom I have known for over two decades of my life. Yup, 22 years to be exact.

It wasn't without hiccups, for instance the electric BBQ pit we booked turned out to be faulty and we had to resort to teppanyaki style last minute or cook the food straight in our kitchen. Or that we realised too late that the Yu Sheng we bought didn't come with shredded radish and carrots so we had to lao with whatever we had. Haha.

Thankful for a bunch of friends who willingly and swiftly jumped in to help out, who made sure we had as little mess to clear up as possible, who made me relive the good old secondary days where we would just eat, drink, chit chat and play card games (can you believe it, I dealt a triple 7 hand to my friend in Ban Luck!).

Especially grateful to my masterchef hubby @xavier_lowjw, who took charge of preparing lots of yummy seafood from Sheng Shiong and whipped up yummy dishes which impressed the guests, for being so selfless and generous in hosting my friends and making everyone feel at home. To more decades of friendship, people!
