如果她外公外婆看了，一定會大不以為然的認為她沒大沒小，而我更是罪𣁽禍首，養而不教，愧為人母。
其實，這只不過是我們母女倆越洋聯繫的小樂趣。驟看，丫頭和我母女間的界線好像有點「越界」了。但時代不同了，長輩和晚輩之間的相處，似乎比以前我們小時候的年代，不拘禮，隨便得多。如果我們做長輩的，想追得上和停留在他們年輕的世界裡久一點，我們就不得不在心態上，做出一點調整，讓雙方都舒服些。
我和丫頭的相處，大部份時間，像朋友多過像母女，但我也給她畫了條底線。當她觸及我的底線時，我就會提醒她，我是她「母親」的身份。令我感恩的是：這種情況發生得極少，因為，她懂得尊重那條底線。

If her grandparents were to find out about our exchange, they would certainly think that Rosie was totally out of line and I, being her mother was the source of all evils as I had failed to provide her with a proper upbringing.
Truth be told, we do this sort of bantering all the time in our effort to stay closely in touch across the Pacific Ocean. On the surface, it seems like the line defining our relationship as mother and daughter has been blurred to almost non-existence. I don't deny that the way Rosie and I get along is a far cry from how I got along with my own parents. We're much more kicked back and relaxed around each other compared to the way my generation treated our older family members. But time has changed and if we, as new parents would like to be able to keep up and stay in our children's world as long as we could manage, we need to adjust our mindset a little.
Rosie and I treat each other more like friends than mother and daughter. But I did draw her my bottom line. Whenever she crosses that line, I would remind her that I indeed am her mother. What I'm most grateful for is that: that line hardly ever gets touched as Rosie loves me too much to even go near it.
