We had Nasi Arab Mandi with Lamb, Oxtail Stew Rice, Oxtail Assam Pedas Rice and Nasi Ayam Penyet.

Each set meal starts from RM18 and includes soup of the day, drinks and dessert.

The oxtails are so tender and yummy. Favorite would be the oxtail assam pedas. Needs more gravy for oxtail stew. Nasi Ayam Penyet wish the chicken are the crispy type but the sambal is the winner, spicy enough for me to crave for more. If you're planning to get the float, get from the drive-thru so it won't melt as fast 🤣. Bubur jagung was nicely flavored and has a subtle taste. Also sirap rose with calamansi is refreshing.

For this video, I headed down to Popeyes to destroy a custom-made Spicy Chicken Sandwich platter! Popeyes is a fast-food chain that originated in Lousiana, specialising in Fried Chicken and Cajun-style cuisine, and located island-wide. Popeye’s famously popular Chicken Sandwich, which was introduced in August 2019 to much fanfare and demand, has finally come to Singapore for a limited period of time.

Assembled onto my platter were 5 Chicken Sandwiches, 5 pieces of Fried Chicken, 4 Buttermilk Biscuits, 1 large Mac ’n’ Cheese, 1 large Coleslaw, 1 large Mashed Potato and 1 large Fries, together with various condiments like Ranch and Cheese sauces. Unfortunately, I ordered Chicken Tenders and a few other sides that were not given to me, making this platter smaller than I planned.

The Chicken Sandwiches were a true treat and I finally understand how they were sold out within weeks in the USA. The Chicken Sandwich came simply constructed - a lightly toasted Brioche Bun, a thick piece of fried chicken thigh, spicy mayonnaise and pickles. However, the simplicity of it allowed each component to shine brightly. The chicken was crispy, moist, tender and on the spicy side. The mayo had a hint of spiciness to it as well, but it still helped cool down the heat from the chicken. There were only 2 pickles in the Chicken Sandwich, but they were refreshing and crunchy. As someone who does not fancy pickles, I actually would have preferred more in my Chicken Sandwich. Finally, the Brioche Bun added a pleasant sweetness to mitigate the spicy chicken and mayonnaise. All these came together to form a splendid Chicken Sandwich. My single criticism would be that having a slice of cheese would have elevated this Chicken Sandwich to even greater heights.

This was a relatively straightforward mukbang which I enjoyed. My only regret was speeding through the Chicken Sandwiches which made me unable to fully enjoy them. Do try Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich while it is available here in Singapore!

Hiyashi Chuka (cold ramen) is kind of refreshing ramen salad. You can enjoy it by changing the toppings and Tare (dressing/sauce).

This video will show you how to make Hiyashi Chuka drizzled with light yet tasty sesame sauce, arranged with Ramen-like toppings, just like the one appeared on Manga: Koufuku Graffiti.

Perfect dish during the hot and humid summer season. However it can be served all year long ;)

Goma Hiyashi Chuka (Cold Ramen with Sesame Dressing)

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30min
Number of servings: 2

Ingredients:
2 packages fresh Ramen noodles
8 slices Char siu (roasted pork)
2 Ramen eggs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXJeJM8q5YA
Chinese jellyfish
1/2 cucumber
100g (3.5oz.) bean sprouts
Beni Shoga (red pickled ginger)
Goma-Dare (sesame dressing)
* 3 tbsp. white sesame paste
* 1/2 tsp. Toban Jan (hot bean sauce / Chinese red chili paste)
* 50ml water
* 50ml vinegar (rice or cereal)
* 3 tbsp. soy sauce (use light soy sauce if you have)
* 1.5 tbsp. sugar
* 1 tbsp. sesame oil
* a pinch of salt

Directions:
1. First, dilute white sesame paste and Toban Jan with water. Then mix the other ingredients for Goma-Dare and cool in the fridge.
2. Remove the roots and heads of bean sprouts (you can leave the heads if you like), then parboil for a few seconds and drain well in a strainer. Cut cucumber into thin strips.
3. In a large pot, boil water. Add fresh Ramen noodles in the boiling water and gently stir noodles with chopsticks. Cook Ramen noodles according to your package (mine was 3 min). Drain the noodles in a strainer and rinse the noodles under cold water for a few times to remove starch. Then drain well again and pat dry with paper towels.
4. Place the cold noodles in a dish, then Arrange the toppings. Pour over the sauce right before you eat.
