義工奇遇記＃2－British Red Cross Clothing Shop

上回分享過我在NHS疫苗中心當義工的經歷
這次要說說我的另一個服務機構－British Red Cross

在英國的街道上走一趟
總不難發現各所Charity Shop的蹤影
除了香港人較熟悉的救世軍(The Salvation Army)
還有投入國際救援的Oxfam與British Red Cross
致力發展醫療科技的Cancer Research UK與British Heart Foundation
關注兒童權益／動物福利的The Children's Society與RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)等等

由於某些商店會將賣不掉的陳列品送過來
附近街坊亦踴躍捐贈不同物品
所以我們這所Clothing Shop也算是包羅萬有
透過出售二手衣物、書籍、玩具與家品來籌集善款

每星期我也會抽一天時間來這裡做義工
兩個月以來也學習了不少技能
例如在鋪面運作Cybertill處理帳目
在樓上倉庫把收集回來的Donation作篩選
處理好Gift Aider＊的捐贈
把破舊的衣物分成三類：Clothes, Household, Shoes/Bags/Belts
量度每袋Rag的重量再將其轉售給Ragman (收買佬)
剩下較簇新的衣物則以蒸汽將皺摺燙平
利用Tagging Gun在適當位置掛上標籤
然後跟據店鋪準則訂定價格
最後按種類、顏色與尺寸排列貨品
有時候還會幫忙佈置櫥窗
替Mannequin換裝
轉換一下玻璃櫃裡的布偶與擺設

雖然只是一間小小的店鋪
這裡的義工卻來自世界各地
牆上貼滿我們的照片
每人也擁有一個印上名字的專屬咖啡杯
大家當值時有說有笑
閒時分享自己生活上的種種趣事
令我每星期也期待回來跟大家相聚
這份義務工作擴闊了我的社交圈
也為生活帶來了新鮮感與滿足感
雖然未能夠賺取一分一毫
但有些得著是難以用金錢來衡量的

下次再談談我在另一處當義工的體驗
要是你剛剛到埗英國又未急於找工作
參與義工行列既可以把經驗寫進履歷
亦是融入當地、結交朋友的好開始呢

結合台灣民間慈善力量協助海地的賑災物資，起飛囉！

外交部常務次長俞大㵢、海地駐台灣大使館維克多漢公使、紅十字會會長王清峰與慈濟代表副執行長熊士民共同主持 #啟運儀式，由 #紅十字會 與 #慈濟 主動募集將近18公噸包含帳篷、床、睡袋、口罩等民生物品，由外交部協調運送，抵達後將由駐海地大使館與海地政府共同見證，發放給災民使用。

台灣期望海地社會及人民早日重建家園，恢復正常生活！

In the wake of the devastating earthquake in #Haiti earlier this month, MOFA has been working with the Taiwan Red Cross and the Taiwan Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation to ship goods gathered from donations by Taiwanese civic groups to the country. On August 26 a donation ceremony was held at Taoyuan Airport hosted by Haitian Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Francilien Victorin, Red Cross President Wang Ching-feng, Tzu Chi Foundation Vice CEO Hsiung Shih-Min and MOFA Vice Minister Alexander Yui.

After arriving in Haiti, Tzu Chi volunteers will distribute the goods, which include folding beds, plastic sheeting, sleeping bags, bedding, face masks, gloves, personal hygiene products and emergency rations, to local people in need with the help of our embassy and under the supervision of the Haitian government.

We’re thankful for all those who donated, showing the great care and concern the people of #Taiwan have for their brothers and sisters in Haiti. We hope that life there can return to normal as soon as possible.

His Banner Over me is Love!

“He brought me to the banquet hall. His banner over me is love.” (Song of Solomon‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

In a Jewish wedding, the wedding couple get married under a canopy called a “Chuppah” which consists of a big sheet (like a banner) stretched out over four standing poles.

This scene is a picture of two people in love sealing their marriage by a covenant.

Imagine Jesus standing with you under the canopy, affirming His love for you. He sealed the New Covenant of Grace for you by shedding His own precious blood.

Perhaps that is why I was led to color the carpet as red because we are standing upon the foundation established by His blood.

““You shall make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cherubim. The work of the skillful workman shall it be made.” (Exodus‬ ‭26:31‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

Without realizing it until the picture was done, the colors I used reflect the four colors of the veil in the Tabernacle, and the golden wings of the cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant. The Chuppah is like a tabernacle—you are preserved from the corruption of the world and kept from harm in God’s dwelling place.

“For the woman that has a husband is bound by law to the husband while he lives, but if the husband dies, she is discharged from the law of the husband.” (Romans‬ ‭7:2‬ ‭WEB‬‬)

A covenant between two is dissolved when one of the two parties dies.

You already died once when you first placed your faith in Jesus. You shared in His death at the cross, His burial, and His resurrection. This means that the covenant between you and God can never become null and void!

When you know that you are united with Jesus by an everlasting covenant, you will not be afraid of falling out of His favor or of any enemies.

His banner over you is love. Just look up and see His love spreading out over you, enveloping you, keeping you safe and protected under the shelter of God!

Keep studying God’s word and growing in your understanding of His ways. Introducing you today the Gothic Lolita Makeup to make men look cute.
Let's start.
Applying the eye bag concealer.
There are 2types here. What's the difference?
Umm..
Using the orange only, but this is a set of 2.
Originally?
Some people only use orange.

Yellow is only for blending in, so directly using the foundation is ok.

I see.
For darker skins, using only orange is perhaps enough.
Adding highlighter.
Do you differ the way you highlight when doing Lolita and Gothic makeup?
Basically if it's the same person…
Same way?
The shape of the face is the same so…
Sure.
When changing the feel and the quality.
ahh.
I change it.
Putting powder on.
Putting the highlighter.
Adding powder to make it more clear.
Giving more gloss.
Adding shadow to the nose.
Is ithis the same shadow you use when I go on live?
Yes, it is.
The color way?
The color way, too. A little down tone when doing Lolita
When in Gothic, making it more vivid.
Quite strongly.
Since the brush is thin, making it very clear and strong.

I'm sure foreigners wouldn't need it.
but sinceJapanese faces are blank, both men and women…
Drawing the eyebrows.
Parts without the natural eyebrows, how do you draw it?
Without….the length, you mean?
The length and how to draw the shape.
For the shape, I fill in the gap. More like collapsing than drawing.
And the outer corner of the eyebrows?
The extension of this line is the basic length.
Of the natural eyebrows?
Matching the eyebrows with the wig. Using brown.
Applying eye shadow.
Starting with gold.
Using some of these colors.
Are you using the shadow to make cleared-eyed look?
Yes, emphasizing a little extra on the corner.
Seeing a totally diffent impression from the previous Lolita makeup.
Overlapping to make it a gradation.
Cannot do it with one layer.
In this makeup, how many colors have you used up to this shadow?
Around 5 colors.
All brown type colors like brown and gold?
A little red.
Red type as well?
Yes, thinking of mixing. So far gold and brown.
After this shadow.
Yes.
In harder Gothic makeup, seems like you're putting clear brown shadows.
Especially on the top part.
Yes.
uh-huh.
It makes it more Gothic giving it clear look.

Using the eyeliner.
Any special tricks on using the eyeliner?
A little. Thinking of making it longer than Lolita makeup.
You mean the edge of the eye makeup?
Mixing.
Better with the cleared-eyed look but needs a little cute essense, so taking the brush to the drooping eye line.
Sure.
Blending it in.
Ar you putting red in the corner ,making it more of a bewitching image?
Ofcourse.
The strong color is more Gothic-like.
This type of red is used when I'm doing band or doing live.
Giving more impact with a taste.
It will make it clear and standout without adding too much.
Adding the eye shadow.
This time I'm not drawing the eye bag, but making around the eye a little brighter.
Hmm.
Makes it more colorful.
Using the eyelash curler.
Putting some mascara.
Using hot eyelash curler.
Putting fake eyelashes.
I usually ask for flashy fake eyelashes, but was there a special key on choosing this one?

I chose ones which is long and has volume on the outer corner.
Not just the corner, but up to two third.
Putting the bottom side.
The bottom goes to one third from the corner?
Yes, along the line.
When the corner has volume, it gives more feminine look.
When I ask to have eyelashes put on for live events, I ask to have it this way.

For live, I use ones with shorter length on the corner.
Ahh.
Really.
Today is Gothic so..
For today.
I use a longer one than usual.
Done with the eye makeup.
Giving color to the cheek.
I used red to give it a stronger look.
Do you add it to the same place as the Lolita makeup?
A little to the outer side. Just a little bit sharp, in a straght line.
Ahh, on the Lolita makeup, you added in a rounder shape.
Round,I added.
Giving some shade.
To make it clear.
Givint it clear and sharp line.
Sharp.
Sharp.
Now the lips.
Is it ok adding along the shape of the lips?
yes.
I seem to have a big mouth.
If it's a mat lipstick, a bit to the inside.
Depends I guess.
Giving it a plumpy look from the outer side makes it feminine.
And sexy.
Face front.
