讓人煩燥的盛夏即將要過去了,立秋是踏入秋季的第一個節氣,不過暑氣和濕氣一時間未能消除,所以飲食原則仍以清熱祛濕為主,由於夏天時多吃生冷食物,脾胃難免受損,所以不妨多吃白米、淮山、番薯、扁豆衣等健脾胃。夏天即將完結,和陽光玩遊戲後當然要為皮膚補水及美白,多吃蘋果、番茄、葡萄、奇異果及士多啤梨等有美白功效的水果,有助預防色斑形成。
為了讓身體順應秋季而收歛,宜早起做早操和慢跑,慢慢建立耐寒體質。雖然開始進入秋天,但突然降雨情況仍會發生,記得隨身帶備雨具啊。

Beginning of Autumn solar term
The irritating hot summer is coming to an end. Beginning of Autumn solar term is the first solar term in autumn. However, heat and dampness will not clear at once. Therefore, the diet should be still focused on clearing heat and dispeling dampness. As you may have eaten too much cold/raw food during summer, your spleen and stomach may have vern affected. Let’s eat more rice, Chinese yam, sweet potato, hyacinth bean coat to strengthen the spleen and stomach. Eat ingredients that have whitening effects such as apple, tomato, grape, kiwi and strawberry to prevent freckles from forming.
To help your body adjust to autumn, you cab get up early to do morning exercise and jog which can help build up tolerance to cold. Although it is autumn right now, it may still rain sometimes. Remember to bring your umbrella out.
Gentle reminders:
.Have a cup of warm rice water after waking up to strengthen spleen and stomach
.Have a bowl of coix seed dessert soup with mung beans to clear heat and dispel dampness
.Keep an umbrella in office in case of rainy days

養顏要健脾潤肺明目
人的外表是內在反映,當五臟六腑功能正常,氣血通暢,自然養顏保持年輕。都市人大多飲食沒節制,早上空腹飲果汁,甚至不吃早餐直接食沙律,或經常食寒涼生冷食物,脾胃虛弱的人多面黃,也較易長胖,因此要皮膚健康和健美就要先養胃。愛好辛辣煎炸食物會令腸胃積熱,輕則皮膚乾、出細紋,甚至乾燥搔癢或爆拆。再者,現代人返工經常接觸電腦,放工後又手機不離手,加上睡眠不足等生活習慣,加重眼睛負擔,消耗肝血,所以不想面黃黃、皮膚乾噌噌、身形走樣及眼仔無神,就要好好養胃、潤肺及明目!
健脾-番薯粟米黃豆粥
材料:番薯1個、粟米粒1杯、黃豆30克、白米1/4米杯
做法:洗淨所有材料,黃豆浸泡半小時,番薯切塊備用。鍋中加入約1500毫升水,放入黃豆,武火將之煮爛,再加入其他材料,水滾後轉至文火,待白米煮熟即可。
功效:健脾養胃。養顏及舒緩面色偏黃及浮腫症狀。
潤肺-蘋果百合川貝蜜茶
材料:蘋果1個、百合10克、蓮子10粒、川貝6克、蜂蜜適量
做法:蘋果去芯切塊,鍋內加入約1000毫升水,加入其他材料煮40分鐘,放涼後加入蜂蜜即可。
功效:潤肺養陰。滋潤肌膚及舒緩乾燥症狀。
明目—石斛枸杞子茶
材料:石斛、枸杞子各10克
做法:燉2小時即可。
功效:生津明目,滋潤雙眼。

Tips to beautiful skin
People’s outer appearance is a reflection of inner condition. When all your organs are working properly and qi and blood are flowing smoothly, your skin will be naturally healthy and young. Urbanites tend to lack control when it comes to eating- juice in the morning with empty stomach, skipping breakfast then having salads, or frequently consume cold and raw foods, etc. Those with asthenic weak spleen and stomach are prone to yellowish complexion and gaining weight so t is important to nourish the digestive system for healthy skin. Spicy and fried food can lead to heat in the digestive system and cause dry skin, wrinkles, or even itchiness. People also have long exposure to computer screen and cannot seem to stop using their mobile phones after work, coupled with lack of rest, it can really add to the burden of the eyes and use liver blood. To avoid yellowish complexion, dry skin, becoming out of shape and have tired eyes, be sure to strengthen your stomach, nourish your lungs and improve eyesight!
Strengthen the spleen- Soy bean congee with sweet potato and corn
Ingredients: 1 sweet potato, 1 cup of corn, 30g soy beans, ¼ cup of white rice
Preparation: rinse all ingredients thoroughly. Soak soy beans for half an hour. Cut sweet potato into pieces. Combine soy beans with 1500ml of water, cook on high heat until it starts to break apart, add in all other ingredients. Turn to low heat when its boiling and cook until white rice is cooked.
Effects: Strengthens the spleen and nourishes the stomach. Improves skin, and alleviates yellowish complexion and bloating.
Nourish the lungs- Apple tea with lily bulbs and fritillaria
Ingredients: 1 apple, 10g lily bulbs, 10 lotus seeds, 6g fritillaria, honey to taste
Preparation: Core apple and cut into pieces. Combine all ingredients except honey with 1000ml of water and cook for 40 minutes. Add in honey to taste once cooled.
Effects: nourishes the lungs and in. Moisturize skin and relieve dryness.
Improve vision- Dendrobium tea with wolfberries
Ingredients: 10g of dendrobium and wolfberries
Preparation: stew for 2 hours.

血虛不只是一味補血,還要配合補氣。

小孩作息及飲食有時,不似成人百般任性,所以常見小孩們的臉色多是白裡透紅。都市人工作繁忙而且壓力甚大,每天都休息不足,甚至運動過度,如兩三個小時連續做時興的高溫瑜珈、腳踏車、馬拉松等消耗體力的流汗運動,反而會過度耗損血液津液,長期演變成血虛體質。血虛不一定是西醫角度的貧血,但也會有人即使檢驗時血色素合符水平,但在中醫角度是血虛。假如你覺得自己一直面色和唇色蒼白、又特別容易頭暈眼花、經常要深呼吸、有心悸、甚至脫髮、指甲容易折斷、皮膚乾燥、女性月經不調,月經量少、顏色淡紅,嚴重者甚至會停經等等,都屬於血虛的表現。想面色紅卜卜?就是好好養氣血!
宜:
- 適量進食補氣血食物,如紅豆米水、黨參、黃芪、紅棗、紅豆、龍眼肉、雪耳等
- 適量進食溫補蔬果如南瓜、櫻桃、水蜜桃、芒果、薑等
- 飲食要均衡,身體才能吸收不同營養
- 盡量多休息,充足睡眠可補足陰血
忌:
- 生冷寒涼及油膩食物,影響脾胃運化及吸收功能
- 「久視傷血」不宜過長時間注視電話及電腦螢幕
- 過量運動及流汗反會傷血
- 過度思慮和憂慮增加脾胃負擔
推介秋季養氣血茶飲:
材料:北芪 9克、麥冬 9克、祛核紅棗2-3枚
做法:將材料洗淨,保溫瓶加入沸水,焗10分鐘即可。
功效:益氣養血。舒緩面色偏白、 指甲容易折斷、無光澤、多汗等症狀。
注意:身體有偏熱症狀、感冒未清者不宜服用。

How does one achieve skin that’s white and rosy?
You usually see rosy yet white healthy complexion on children because they tend to eat and rest at regular times. Working adults tend to have high levels of stress without adequate rest. Some may suddenly decide to overwork their bodies with long hours of sweat inducing exercises such as hot yoga, biking and marathon. This creates excessive burden on blood and fluid and can lead to blood asthenia body constitution over time. Blood asthenia is not necessarily the same as anemia in Western medicine. Common symptoms include pale complexion and lip color, prone to dizziness, tightness in chest, needing to deep breath, hair loss, brittle nails, dry skin, irregular menstruation with low volume and pale red color (in more serious cases, onset of menopause)- these are all symptoms of blood asthenia. Start nourishing your qi and blood if you want rosy cheeks!
Suitable:
- Appropriately consume foods that replenish qi and blood, such as red bean rice water, radix codonopsis, radix astragali, red dates, red beans, longan, snow fungus
- Appropriately consume warm-natured vegetables and fruits such as pumpkin, cherries, peaches, mangoes, and ginger
- Have a balanced diet to give your body a variety of nutrition
- Try to rest more as adequate sleep can replenish yin and blood
Avoid:
- Cold/raw and oily foods that can affect the functions of the spleen and stomach
- Staring at phones and monitors for extended periods of time
- Over exercise and sweat
- Over think and be too anxious as that increases burden on the spleen and stomach
