I knew it’s not gonna be easy owning a house but it’s actually a lot tougher than I thought it would be. I don’t know how parents do it. For me, it was just my dad as the breadwinner and then, us 4 women in his life lols -like how men in the old generations are expected to take full financial care of their family, built like money making machine. Ps: Miss you dad, tq for everything you did for us.

Girls can do anything too. Still thankful that my sisters and I are brought up to be extremely independent. We do it/make it on our own.

PERSONAL simple advices that I didn’t take myself (I’m not a pro, just sharing):
1. Do your survey before buying a house. Consider all aspects, know the building materials etc. I don’t even know what brick my developer used until my neighbour drilled a hole through my wall. I should know more.
2. Do your calculation. Don’t just THINK that you can do it. Numbers will show if you can ACTUALLY do it. Don’t buy what you can’t afford now thinking that you’ll be able to afford in the future. When unexpected hardship like COVID-19 hit, my house was left empty for more than a year. It was more of a liability than an asset to me.
3. Don’t allocate 100% cash budget to renovation because you need cash for electrical appliances, furniture, water filter (lol) and many many many other things you just haven’t realized you needed yet.
4. Never pay 100% (which I did, dumb mistake). Negotiate payment terms.
5. You want nice things, you need to pay. Common sense but ya, don’t expect nice interior with cheap cost. No matter how cheap it is, work is work, there’s still a cost.
6. Hire an interior designer to start from the beginning for less headache. I thought I could do things through Pinterest pictures, I also tried getting quotations on my own, tried to compare prices and all but I still passed it to @be.studio_my in the end. Could’ve saved all that unnecessary hassle.
7. Do it step by step if you can’t afford the renovation. I personally do not want to go in debt(take a loan)/go over budget to do renovation. So, I gave up on backyard extension for now.

13 Tips untuk menghasilkan barang hantaran yang nampak Grand dengan bajet yang minima.

Anda bakal bertunang atau bakal bergelar pengantin baru tidak lama lagi? Sedang mencari idea untuk hantaran?

Jom kami kongsikan tips memilih barang hantaran sebagai panduan untuk anda.

1. Berapa bajet anda untuk hantaran?
Sebelum apa-apa, anda dan pasangan perlu tetapkan berapa bajet maksimum yang akan diletakkan untuk barang hantaran. Meletakkan bajet adalah sangat penting supaya anda tak terlebih berbelanja akibat terlalu curiga. KAlau terlebih belanja untuk membeli barang hantaran, dikhuatiri akan menjejaskan bajet untuk perkara lain.

Bagi memudahkan anda merancang kewangan, asingkan bajet bagi tiga perkara utama ini:

i) Bajet untuk dulang
ii) Bajet untuk gubahan dulang serta upah penggubah dulang
iii) Bajet untuk barangan hantaran yang akan diletakkan di atas dulang

2. Berapa jumlah dulang nak disediakan?
Dah ada bajet, bolehlah anda tetapkan pula berapa jumlah dulang hantaran yang nak disediakan. Mengikut adat melayu tradisional, bilangan dulang untuk pasangan pengantin adalah dalam angka ganjil. Jika pengantin perempuan bercadang untuk memberi tujuh dulang sebagai hantaran untuk pihak lelaki, selalunya pihak lelaki akan membalas dalam jumlah yang kurang sedikit daripada itu, biasanya lima dulang.

3. Apakah warna & tema majlis anda nanti?
Tip penting dalam memilih barang untuk dulang hantaran adalah memilih konsep majlis dan tema warna terlebih dahulu. Ini adalah untuk mengelakkan daripada lari konsep di antara barang anda serta konsep keseluruhan majlis.

Contoh konsep majlis dan tema warna yang mungkin sesusuai untuk anda:

🌸Konsep Klasik Tradisional Melayu🌸
Warna yang sesuai adalah emas di raja, ungu manggis, hijau gelap, dan merah gelap (maroon). Lazimnya hiasan dulang akan merangkumi tepak sirih tradisional, bunga paha, bunga telur, dan hiasan bunga segar.

🌸Konsep Perkahwinan Inggeris🌸
Warna yang sesuai adalah warna-warna pastel seperti putih, biru, kuning, merah jambu, dan hijau. Semuanya di dalam tona warna lembut. Hiasan dulang pula adalah seperti bunga hydrangea, lily, pot pori, kek cawan, atau dulang moden seperti kaca atau dulang putih
berenda bunga.

🌸Konsep Perkahwinan santai🌸
Bagi konsep perkahwinan ini, pilihan warnanya adalah lebih banyak. Cadangan hiasan dulang pula adalah seperti alas dulang bantal, kayu palet atau pun sponge.

4. Jangan lupa masukkan barang adat dalam senarai hantaran
Jangan lupakan barang adat seperti sirih junjung, bunga rampai, Al-Quran, sejadah, dan telekung solat yang menjadi adat kita orang melayu. Kurang manis majlis nanti kalau takde barang adat atas dulang hantaran.

5. Senaraikan barang hantaran yang perlu dibeli
Sebelum anda mula membeli-belah, sediakan senarai barang hantaran yang perlu dibeli. Senarai ini merangkumi barang hantaran dan aksesori hiasan dulang untuk gubahan. Takde idea untuk hiasan dulang? Kalau ada bajet, anda boleh upah sahajaorang lain untuk gubahkan. Kalau tak, anda boleh cari idea dari majalah pengantin atau google sahaja.

6. Beli barang hantaran semasa jualan murah
Jom kami kongsikan tips paling ‘Awesome’. Nak beli barang untuk hantaran? Beli sewaktu ada jualan murah. Biasanya sempena jualan murah, anda akan dapat diskaun yang banyak. Tak perlu risau, ada banyak jualan murah di Malaysia.

Jualan akhir tahun, jualan sempena hari raya, jualan sempena deepavali, jualan sempena tahun baru cina, jualan sempena krismas. Anda boleh beli sedikit demi sedikit. Tak semestinya kena beli sekali gus.

7. Masukkan Barangan Wajib Hantaran
Antara barangan wajib dan klasik yang tidak patut anda tinggal adalah:

✅ Tepak sirih
✅ Tapak cincin
✅ Kotak mas kahwin/hantaran
✅ Sepasang telekung/ mushaf Al-Quran/sejadah
✅ Makanan seperti kek, coklat, dan buah
Barangan di atas telah dimasukkan di dalam senarai gubahan dulang sejak turun-temurun, maka moleklah anda memasukkannya juga untuk dulang anda. Ianya tak lapuk dek hujan, tak lekang dek panas!

8. Jangan Berlebih-Lebihan
Tips memilih barang hantaran perkahwinan seterusnya yang ingin kami kongsikan dengan anda adalah jangan berlebih-lebihan. Dulang hantaran hanyalah secebis daripada keseluruhan majlis perkahwinan anda. Ada banyak lagi kos lain yang perlu difikirkan.

9. Elakkan terlalu banyak dulang
Kalau boleh elakkan dulang hantaran yang banyak kerana nanti, anda perlukan lebih ramai ‘dulang girls’ untuk memegang dulang anda, bermakna makin ramai kawan/sahabat anda perlukan untuk memegang dulang anda. Sekiranya baju-baju dulang girls ini anda kena sponsor, maka bertambahlah bajet yang perlu anda belanjakan.

Takkan 3 dulang girls yang lainnya mak cik- mak cik yang pegangkan dulang anda, tak cantik pula dalam gambar kahwin nanti!

10. Sesuaikan barang dengan dulang
Semasa pemilihan barang anda kena sesuaikan dengan dulang yang anda guna. Pastikan anda tahu saiz dulang jika tidak semua barang tak muat untuk digubah. Lebih menarik jika anda memilih dulang dari jenis yang sama untuk kesemua dulang hantaran.

? How to you manage alone time?
We both have our own routine & we respect each other space. We actually spend most of our time alone~ Just in the vlog it seems like we are together 24/7

? If all expenses paid and no pain at all, what kind of plastic surgery would you girls do?
Love this question! We do get sponsorship offer for plastic surgery and we have kinda high tolerance for pain but we still rejected the offer =) We don’t think we would change a thing~ It’s not that we are happy with everything that we’re born with just that we think we rather learn to love what we are given. That being said, we are not against plastic surgery either.

? With your current income, do you guys be able to make a living on your own?
We survived. LOL~ It’s not a lot but we love what we do and we’ll continue to work hard.

? What happens if you are over 35 and have not married yet?
Good question~ We don’t think it should be an issue. Married or not, it won't change a thing =)

? Is there any tips or book recommended to start reading?
We all have different book preferences. When people say they are not a reader we always think that they have not found the right book. It’s not you, it’s the book LOL So keep searching and keep reading. Don’t feel bad to leave a book if you don’t like it~

? What if one day you two fall in love with the same guy?
It’s not going to happen~ We both have different taste in guys

? If you were to focus on one thing you can improve on, what would it be?
Sue: I would like to improve my sleeping habit. I need to sleep early.
Jo: For work, I want to improve my Photoshop skill. For personal, I want to overcome my fear of crowds.

? What is something which gives you happiness recently?
Jo: Baking cakes & learning crochet
Sue: Exercising & Baking breads

? Places / Country you guys want to travel when C19 ends or safe to travel again?
Jo: Korea
Sue: Taiwan~ Since we’re learning Mandarin, I think Taiwan is the great to practice my Mandarin. Plus, I like Taiwan.

? What’s your preference in guys?
Jo: I like hardworking guys. And also someone who knows how to enjoy life alone and with people too.
Sue: I like animated guys… I’ll leave it as that. LOL

? What made you start your own business? How to solve it when no customer buy?
We started our first business as a side thing. We just love clothings and we thought selling clothing would be fun. When we closed our clothing business down, opening another business seems like a familiar thing to do~
& how to get more customers? You can pay for ads. Get influencers to promote your business. Get family and friends to spread the news.

? Do you guys inspire each other? Who inspire who the most?
We both have different style so we get inspirations from outside sources ( like on Pinterest, YouTube or Instagram)

? How tall are you guys? Both of you look so tall.
We get that a lot. But we are tiny~ 157cm =)

?What’s the cutest thing someone did for you?
Jo: The cutest thing is when a perfect stranger gave me an extra rose because he saw my then bf only gave me one stalk of rose. lol
Sue: When my mum bought us balloons on our birthday

? Advice to those who are entering into their 20s?
Jo: If you just entering your 20s, Welcome to adulthood~
My advice … Live & Be happy. Do what you love. Learn about yourself as much as you can. Learn new things. Try new things. and use SPF HAHA!

Sue: This is an exciting time. Like what Jo said, "Learn about yourself as much as you can". It's the time you get to choose what you want to do, what you want to be and be sure to choose wisely who you surround yourself with. .
