This is my friend Sumi. We have been friends for over 12 years. My very very best friend. We celebrated her birthday last night. Her birthday falls on August 30 and it has been a tradition to have a house party the night before because August 31 is a public holiday!!!
We met in our first year of college in KL and studied together in South Africa and then Melbourne. I did national service in Sepang and she did hers in Bau, Kuching.
We don’t hug each other, we don’t say miss you or love you, we don’t call each other babe (too weird!), but deep down we know, I have her and she has me. This is such a cringe message to write, because I’m not an affectionate person, neither is she. Thank you for introducing me to good music and to good pasta!! Happy belated birthday Sumi!
