ADBE前兩天發表財報了.

這次ADBE在財報後下跌, 主要是兩個原因(如下). 不過個人覺得是瑕不掩瑜:
1. 因為之前已經漲了不少(投資人期望太高)
2. 因為Digital Marketing這部分的業務受到季節性的影響, 所以表現不是很突出(沒有比預期高出很多)
a. net new Digital Media ARR (3% beat vs guide, vs 15% beat in 2Q21 vs 35% beat in 3Q20).
b. 有分析師在問(“Maybe just -- can we double-click on the seasonality commentary in the quarter? Because if we look at the beat versus guidance on net new digital media ARR, it looks, at the same time you had the weakest beat, but then the strongest guide in the last three years, which kind of speaks to and confirm some of those seasonality comments that you made.)
i. 高層對此的回答是, 主要是疫情後, 加上正值夏季, 大家的日子回復到正常&放假外出, 所以這部分的業務有受到影響(I think going into the quarter, we had expected that the consumer with a little bit more return to normalcy as what's happening in the environment.)
ii. 高層又說了一些話, 不過重點就是他不認為這是甚麼大事”So, net-net, I would say that the growth prospects for that particular business and the growth drivers remain intact. But again, very much in line. And this is what we feel good about the insights that we're getting on the business.”
iii. 也提到, Q4通常會是digital marketing業務的旺季(表現會不俗的意思)

另外, 覺得這次令我印象深刻的是, 當高層與分析師提到這些事情:
• 常在一些公司的電話會議中提到omnichannel這個字(疫情後, 更明顯了). 這次高層也有提到. ADBE可說是omnichannel概念股:
o “I mean, a big part of that is more and more companies are thirdly doing the multi-channel omnichannel, whatever they want to call it. And I think that's only going to continue to be a driver of our Digital Experience Solutions. Because today that stable stakes and so we just look at it and say whether you're shopping in-store over they are shopping online. You need a solution that treats you like a customer that we know of.”
• 網路上影片(video)的興起, 以及串流影音, 有提高了Adobe的營收天花板(用句分析師的術語, 就是TAM (total addressable market) expansion.
• 當使用者製作了越來越多的內容, 內容管理(content management)的能力就越顯重要, 內容上的流程管理(workflow)也越顯重要. Adobe的產品能夠幫內容製作者解決這樣的問題.
• 而Adobe各產品間的相容性, 標準化, 整合能力, 是它的競爭優勢之一:
o And one of the things we did really well is what we called our named user deployment and how, you know, when we have these enterprise licensing agreements, we offer enterprises the ability to download and distribute within the companies. And the more we do training and evangelism of the products, that leads to adoption. So, I would say there's an element of standardization, there's an element of more content.

而最近ADBE有個新聞, 引起了我的注意, 就是它即將在自己的平台上, 提供付款服務(payment service). 根據之前研究SHOP的經驗, 這有可能會對股價造成一定的漲幅:
On Sept. 15, Adobe announced that it will add payment services to its e-commerce platform this year to help merchants accept credit cards and other ways of paying. The move will deepen Adobe's rivalry with e-commerce firm Shopify (SHOP).
For the service, Adobe has partnered with PayPal (PYPL), which will process a variety of payment types, including credit and debit cards as well as PayPal's own payment and buy-now-pay-later offerings.

🌻我喜歡的Apple TV影集, "Ted Lasso", 是這次艾美獎的大贏家, 很多主要演員都得獎了.

很高興這兩年, 因為有這部戲的陪伴, 讓我撐過了疫情, 家人離世, 以及一些烏煙瘴氣的事情.

前幾天看演員的得獎影片, 一位娛樂記者問得獎的男配角(也是編劇之一)說, 你覺得這部片的核心思想是甚麼. 他說, be curious, not judgemental.

就像得獎的女演員在劇中一開始是很鴨霸很壞心的球隊主人, 但這樣做是因為被前夫傷透了心, 所以想要弄垮離婚後分到的財產(也是前夫的最愛--球隊); 外表看起來永遠陽光燦爛做啦啦隊的男主角, 在青少年時父親自殺, 造成了他心裡永遠的痛&障礙(讓他在球賽時, 會有突發恐懼症).

我們每個人其實都有很多面, 很多個故事. 尤其在社群, 大家都是萍水相逢, 對彼此的了解都是非常片面的; 而有時候在社群裡, 看到有人會因為只看到一個面向, 就去下斷語. 這其實是人之常情很難避免, 所以我們需要常用第二層思考去提醒自己. 社群裡需要更多的同理心.

電影《沙丘瀚戰》評價兩極，我沒有閱讀過原著小說，完全是一張白紙的狀態入場觀看，說不上很喜歡，但如果推出續集的話是一定願意入場的，畢竟Part One只是序章，用了不少篇幅去建構架空而龐大的迷人世界觀，不至於複雜到難以消化，只是剛步出新手村因此還未沉迷到通宵解任務的地步，不過絕對願意課金買個新手包上路的那種程度。


我比較想談談的是導演Denis Villeneuve最近批評Marvel電影公式化，只是不斷的複製和貼上：

There are too many Marvel movies that are nothing more than a cut and paste of others. Perhaps these types of movies have turned us into zombies a bit.


我不認為Denis Villeneuve是單純的吃不到的葡萄是酸的，他的Arrival是我非常喜歡的作品，看過電影之後還特意去找姜峯楠的原著來讀，也因此更加佩服Denis Villeneuve的能耐。


Arrival的原著《妳一生的預言》算是較難改編成電影的小說，一來它是篇幅只有不到90頁的短篇故事，要擴展成兩小時的電影就需要相當大程度地改寫，二來小說採非線性敘事方式，第一與第二人稱不斷交插敘述，是本像詩篇一樣的科幻小說，但Arrival不止補完小說省去的部分，變成一個結構更完整的故事，也成功用影像呈現出小說溫柔而哀傷的調子。加上《沙丘》也是被稱為史上最難改編的小說，這兩部作品也並非copy and paste可以了事，因此Denis Villeneuve確實一而再地證明了他的才華，也許他的確有批評的資格。


不過有資格去批評，也不代表一定要直斥。


Denis Villeneuve不齒的Marvel曾經瀕臨破產，而其中一個挽狂瀾於既倒的人是在Iron Man飾演Happy的Jon Favreau。


Jon Favreau作為Iron Man的導演，力薦當時因吸毒而事業低迷的Robert Downey Jr.擔綱男主角，結果為Marvel殺出一條血路，也為The Infinity Saga揭開序幕。


Jon Favreau如今沒有再執導Marvel電影，他在Netflix上有一個烹飪節目叫The Chef Show，每集到不同地方邀請名人或廚師一邊煮食一邊聊天，美食固然是賣點，但Jon和每集嘉賓流露的創作甚至人生態度才是這個節目最值得一看的地方。例如其中一集緬懷首位憑食評獲得普立茲獎的傳奇美食評論家Jonathan Gold，Jon回想自己在籌備電影Chef之前曾經拜訪過他，當時Jonathan Gold說了一番頗有意思的話。


Jonathan Gold說他常常到沒有名聲的小餐廳，如果他不喜歡那裡的菜式，他從來不會公開批評一句，因為他不想傷害那些還在努力當中的小店，他之所以比較喜歡幫助一些有潛力的好餐廳吸引更多人注意，全因為「He knew what his spotlight would do」。


當然了，Marvel不是小店，不會因為一句批評就倒下，不過當一個人愈是有能力，說話愈是有份量，那就更加應該謹言慎行，讓自己的影響力發揮正面作用，或者比張口批評來得更有意思。


Marvel的確有些爆谷電影，但優秀的作品也有不少，不說鋪排了十一年的Endgame，就算是我早幾天翻看的Doctor Strange，說的是一個自負好勝的smart ass，在最後甘願放下自我用「不斷輸」的方式來救世，也是相當可敬的不是嗎？


最後，Doctor Strange的導演也retweet了自己以前一則Tweet作為對Denis Villeneuve的回應：

As a director I don’t slag on the work of other directors even when I don’t like something they’ve made. This job is hard enough for all of us, and nobody ever sets out to make a bad movie.

最好的自己不在未來，就在現在。

認真回想，以前我好像在每一段關係中都是在扮演某一個角色，不由自主的在為每個對象做調整。不只有在戀愛上，有時候可能跟朋友、工作夥伴都是，尤其是在前輩面前，常常我都會本能反應似的改變自己。聲音要甜一點嗎？笑話要低級一點嗎？從穿衣服就可以看出，我今天是要跟誰吃飯。雖然是微調，但透露出了一件事，我好像不夠喜歡真正的自己，所以才會擔心大家也不會喜歡真正的我。我告訴自己即使累，但如果持續努力，有一天就能變成大家都喜歡的Lara。

久而久之我和世界的相處模式只有「由外到內」，會依照別人對我的反應去斷定我的下一步。大家會覺得我很好相處，我卻越來越不快樂。現在我慢慢開始懂了，原來我把順序弄反了。我該優先處理的是自己內心的感受，其他人買不買單，其實跟你一點關係都沒有。就像找另外一半，如果我跟夢中情人在一起，但我根本無法在他面前做自己，最後還是會走不下去。

我現在33歲，So What? 終於懂，「當下的自己」才是人生時間軸上最重要的！

對了，有人好奇這次「{}」的意思嗎？簡單說是「大括號」，在數學運算式中稱作「空集合」。數學不好的人就想像一個清空的行李箱吧。「空」不是無，而是無限可能。括號還有另外一個更好懂的意思，就是「優先處理」。將過去整理過後的自己，回歸純粹，態度成熟自信！(失戀後重新出發的人應該很有感觸吧！🤣)

Looking back, I seem to have been playing a role in almost every relationship I was ever in. I'm not just talking about romantic relationships. Whether it was with friends or colleagues (especially seniors), I would modify myself almost instinctively. Should my voice be sweeter? My jokes dirtier? I think I had it all wrong. My first priority should have been listening to my inner voice. Whether or not other people agree with it is not in my control nor of my concern. Take looking for a partner. Even if I found the person of my dreams, it would never last if I couldn’t be myself around them.

I am 33 years old. So What? I finally understand that "the present self" is the most important thing on the timeline of life! It’s time to prioritize me!

By the way, is anyone curious about the meaning of "{}" this time? Besides the more commonly known representation of parentheses as prioritization, these curly brackets are called “the empty set”. The empty what? If like me, math is not your strongest suit, think of it as an empty suitcase. "Empty" doesn’t mean nothing, but infinite possibilities! What will you fill your life with this time?

Ramen has always been one of the most comforting food in the whole wide world. This cult-like culture of making a great ramen has spread widely in the past 30 years. This is a documentary of how a ramen was made and how the professional chefs work in their kitchen.

一整天的觀察下來，儘管只是短短一天，即使只是一碗麵，都能深刻感受拉麵的魔力以及值得傾注心力的原因。對於我們客人而言，只是三十分鐘的晚餐時間，但對於背後付出心力的店家來說，就是日複一日、年復一年的堅持。

五之神拉麵主打濃郁的蝦風味，但這並不影響奧山主廚創作自己心中想要的拉麵。對他來說拉麵有趣的就是沒有過多的規則限制，只要抓出想要的方向，就能大膽的實驗，就算是定番料理，都能依靠日月累積的經驗做出細微的調整。

製作過程中我注意到每到達一個階段，不可忽略的就是試吃，確認味道符合心中設定的味道。使用的食材毫不馬虎，用量也絕對沒有在客氣。你會驚訝於店家所使用的食材量是多麽的驚人，但這就是一般人無法做出相同味道的關鍵之一，平時常聽到許多老闆掛在嘴邊說「用料不敷成本」，在今天我眼見為憑。

一碗好吃的拉麵，關鍵在於時間。任何一個小環節，都需要花時間。熬一份美味的雞白湯，起跳就是4小時，才能達到膠質口感，讓湯頭完美的乳化。提取石斑魚風味進入油脂當中，費時2小時。準備熬煮醬汁所需要的鮮味淡高湯，24小時。前置準備越充裕，才能在客人面前看起來輕鬆自在，但其實所有的費盡苦心與汗水，都隱藏在小小的門簾之後。

我很好奇地問了奧山師傅，在台灣認識了什麼日本沒有的在地食材，想要用在拉麵當中？他的回答是有趣的「沙茶醬」，如果未來回到日本開拉麵店，他會在他的湯頭當中添加沙茶醬，放一點點就會是很棒的味道。

另外，他也推薦下次去東京玩的時候，可以拜訪一間專賣河豚拉麵的店「八代目keisuke」，是他心中認為非常有意思，也會想一去再去的好店。

這次五之神製麵所得拉麵之旅收穫良多，希望我能吸收這次的經驗，做出一碗我自己相當滿意，也同樣美味好吃的日本拉麵。
