One of my biggest takeaways from the 'Intro to the Early Years Learning Framework' workshop last week was to really think about the ideal outcomes and how to facilitate an environment that would encourage it.
For our family, it was very clearly and really wanting to empower Ella Grace of the world and community that she lives and loves in.
I wanted to teach her about sustainability and of taking care of the environment, of how our little matters no matter how little it might seem.
We are huge on teaching her to be kind and respectful of others that this was also such a core part of the lesson too - to be kind and respectful of the environment.
So we are committed as a family to reducing our waste and investing in products that can be reused and/or recycled. I thought about it and it horrified me that Ella Grace likely uses at least 1 straw a day, that's 365 straws a year for just one little girl! 😱😫😭
Today we took her to The Hive- Bulk Foods and bought us all fancy stainless steel straws. It didn't cost a lot (rm7) but it is the commitment to use it that will both cost and pay off.
As a company, I realize also that at each workshop, we use cling wrap to keep the fruit bowl covered and that's a lot of plastic wrap even just in a month.
We also use disposable ware out of convenience and will be looking into more sustainable ways to do this effectively and together.
I need to remember that little eyes are watching and learning and role modeling, so persevere. So rise up. So choose wisely.
She wants to be just like mama someday.
And so I know I know I know, it begins with me.

Ps. We are after some eco-friendly reusable high-quality plates/cups/cutlery that are light weight and easy to transport for our workshops. Have any ideas? Let us know below please!
