Ipoh starts really early when it comes to food and kopitiam is mostly where all hangout and information exchanges usually takes place. This particular dimsum place is prominently popular with their steam buns and you can tell that they are serious with their buns when the stacks of steam baskets continuously have steam rising through every open ridges!

The variation is an abundance of flavour profile and they pretty much have everything you can (and can't) think off when it comes to the fillings. To think that Chinese have been steaming these buns from as early as during the Song Dynasty, and that it is still pretty much consumed today in the same form just shows how they remained popular and satisfying in every aspect.

Chicken curry bao is pretty memorable :)

Ps:Look for this one in Bercham on the map the next time you visit Perak and search for New Paradise dimsum.

One of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Ipoh- Hoong Tho Restaurant 鸿图酒楼 has been dishing out Cantonese dishes for more than half a decade; the stir-fries are well-received even by the locals. The main menu features quite an extensive list of Cantonese dishes but do not miss out the display counter at the entrance... displaying some old-school Cantonese pastries. Prices are generally quite reasonable, with good quality. Our recommendations would be their Fresh Water Prawn Noodles and Gui Hua Glass Noodles.

While Ipoh is blessed with many Dim Sum outlets and Chinese restaurants but this particular restaurant housed in Weil Hotel Ipoh is top of the notch. Yuk Sou Hin 玉壽轩 is a restaurant that deserves a Michelin Star! Being one of the most popular Chinese restaurants in town, Yuk Sou Hin has a bible-thick menu that has something to satisfy everyone- it serves Dim Sum dishes in the morning and classic Cantonese dishes the rest of the day.
