Can you swim outdoors in Taipei? What and where is Xindian? How do you get there?

Today my girlfriend and I are checking out Taipei Riverside and go all the way from Xindian to Danshui! We had to make an unplanned stop in Daodacheng though, and from there "someone" thought it was enough biking for one day. I also got tricked into eating plum ice cream although it's one of my least favorite flavors.
