【721一週年】本台記者採訪期間被警方票控
防暴警察於晚上八時，在YOHO一期廣場圍困約百名記者進行大規模截停搜查，並要求本台記者出示記者證。警方其後表示不承認其記者身份，為「非法逗留現場」。最終，本台記者於一樓1041號舖外被警方以違反「限聚令」為由票控港幣二千元。
警方當時指出非受薪記者，以及沒有香港記者協會或政府新聞處旗下記者證的人士，一旦參與「採訪」，均屬違法。因此，在本台不獲警方承認的情況下，加上警方指本台記者與其他在場人士有共同目的──本次採訪屬非法行動，沒有被豁免的理由。
本台記者當時身穿反光衣並佩戴了記者證，亦正履行記者職責──記錄現場情況，理應不受限聚令規管。惟根據本台記者觀察，警方分辨記者的標準不一：有警員表示只認受受薪記者；但同時又有警員指只認受持有記協或攝記協記者證的記者。由此可見，警方根本沒有統一認受記者標準。
本台必須重申，警方口中的記者標準實屬打壓新聞自由的藉口。根據香港記者協會聲明，採訪及新聞自由均受《基本法》第 27 條、《基本法》第 39 條訂明的《公民權利和政治權利國際公約》第 19(2) 條及《香港人權法案》保障。「採訪」本身是一種公民權利，並非特定資格。不論記者的身份是學生、義工或是受僱於傳媒機構，均有權採訪。
【One-year anniversary of 721】Campus TV's reporter was issued a penalty ticket
Riot police encircled and intercepted approximately 100 reporters in YOHO Mall at 8pm. Police demanded Campus TV’s reporter to show his press card. They later refused to acknowledge his identity as a reporter and claimed that he was illegally staying at the scene. Our reporter was subsequently issued a penalty ticket of group gathering restriction and fined $2000 outside shop 1041 on 1/F.
Police said that non-paid reporters and those without a press card issued by the Hong Kong Journalists Association (HKJA) or the Information Services Department violate the law if they participate in news reporting. Since the police did not acknowledge Campus TV and claimed that our reporter shared the same objective with others who were present, our news report is therefore considered unlawful and there are no reasons for exemption.
Our reporter was wearing a reflective vest and a press card at the time. Fulfilling the duties of a reporter — reporting the scene — should under no circumstances be regulated by the group gathering restriction. According to the observation of our reporter, however, the police holds a different standard of identifying reporters: some police officers said that only paid reporters are acknowledged while some said that only reporters with press cards issued by HKJA or Hong Kong Press Photographers Association are acknowledged. It is therefore clear that the police does not have a unified standard of acknowledging reporters.
Campus TV reiterates that such standards of the police are merely excuses to suppress the freedom of the press. According to a statement from HKJA, the freedom of the press and media’s freedom of reporting are guaranteed by article 7 of the Basic Law, article 19(2) of “International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights” prescribed by article 39 of the Basic Law and the “Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act”. News reporting in itself is a form of civil right instead of a special qualification. Whether a reporter’s identity is a student, a volunteer or an employee of a media organization, they have the right to report news.
