Got some lanterns this afternoon, all excited to see the kids’ reactions. The last time we had lanterns at home was 2 years ago and Arielle was just 1+ so she wasn’t able to appreciate yet.

Today, was a little better than 2 years back. Arielle held onto her lantern around the garden before telling me “I want to go in already”. As for Aaron, he couldn’t stop trying to blow off the candle the moment he saw us lighting it up 🤣

Thanks to the digital era and the rapid advancement of technologies, the mediums available to the modern artists are not limited to canvas on an easel. Instead, they utilize video, sound, electronic music, installation, and various new media to explore different issues, such as family, memory, city, society, landscape, and environment. Hence, in the “New Media Tour” program, nine brilliant pieces created by Taiwanese artists will be shared as the relay points for the “Taiwan Grand Tour.” We firmly believe that digital tools can also capture the warmth and emotions in reality. This program consists of nine artworks: "Surrounding Spectrum"(Directed by Hsiu-Ming Wu), "Nanyang Express II : Eternal Wandering and Tropical Pursuing"(Directed by Yi-Chi Lin), "Wave Waves"(Directed by Sio-Pang Hong), "That ・ This"(Directed by Ching-Chuan Hu), "Signal"(Directed by Chin-Hsiang Hu), "Tower of Babel by the sea"(Directed by Wei-Chung Feng), "How to explain love to an iPhone"(Directed by Jie-Huai Yang), "U+617E_v2.∞"(Directed by Jia-Hua Zhan), and "Absence in Presence"(Directed by Ning Tsai). 在數位時代與科技快速的演進下，當代藝術家所可運用的媒材不再停留在畫架上的油布而已，進而從錄像(video)、聲音(sound)、電子音樂(electronic music)、裝置(installation)與各種新媒體(new media)的數位載體，以此各自表達所關注的多元議題，如家族、記憶、城市、社會、地景與環境等。因此，在「新媒體之旅」 (New Media Tour)的展區裡，將分享9件台灣藝術家所帶來的精彩作品，以此作為「島嶼壯遊」的中繼點，我們堅信數位工具也能夠呈現出現實環境的溫度與情感。此展區將展出《景觀色譜－樂群村、華陰街、西螺鎮》：吳修銘、《信使II - 永恆漫遊與熱帶追尋》：林羿綺、《滾滾》：洪小澎、《彼・此》：胡鈞荃、《光廊》：胡縉祥、《海邊的巴別塔》：馮偉中、《如何向一支手機解釋愛情》：楊傑懷、《U+617E_v2.∞》：詹嘉華、《無人的在場》：蔡寧。本展區的作品將提供限時觀看與藝術家介紹的網址連結。

奧地利林茲電子藝術節台灣展區👉🏻「台北/福爾摩沙花園：島嶼壯遊」將於明日線上開展‼️

2021 ARS ELECTRONICA FESTIVAL featuring Garden Taipei/ Formosa will kick off online tomorrow! The open press conference was held at the National Taiwan Normal University on Sep 7.

The VR experience simulation was also available at the press conference. All the guests can embark on the journey to the Grand Tour by using the VR equipment on site.

Curator Hsin-Chien Huang has thanked all the support from his partners, fellow artists, and directors. It wouldn’t be possible to create this unprecedented lineup without all the assistance he was given. The content of the exhibition this year relied on bringing many fields together, for example, the “Earth Tour: Taste Your Soul” is co-created with the internationally renowned chef Andre Chiang. Also, “The Weight of Data” is collaborated among the Taipei Urban Intelligence Center, Peppercorns, and Roboenter, presenting how technology could change our society in a variety of forms. Huang hoped that the future development of digital technology in Taiwan can be broadened and extended to different fields to get in touch with more perspectives and subjects. He was certain that with the online exhibition and the press conference, more creative energy would be gathered, and Taiwan would be put on the map.

今（7日）在 國立臺灣師範大學 National Taiwan Normal University 舉辦開幕記者會，本次記者會會後更加入了 VR體驗活動，與會嘉賓可以使用現場VR器材一同進入《島嶼壯遊》的歷險世界。

策展人黃心健教授表示：「由衷感謝眾多協力單位的共同支持，以及藝術家與導演的幫助之下，才能促使今年的展出陣容更甚以往；今年度的展出內容即是眾多跨領域整合的展現，如與國際名廚江振誠主廚聯名創作的『食壤計畫』、臺北大數據中心、Peppercorns 黑川互動媒體藝術 與 Roboenter 樂飛特三方合作共同集結的作品「資料的重量」等，以多元的表現形式來展現科技改變社會的能力，希望未來數位科技在臺灣的發展進程可以延展到更多面向，觸及到更多不一樣的視角與題材，相信經過此次的線上展覽以及記者會能夠凝聚更多能量使臺灣更加發光！」

How to make a Diorama.
Diorama title : Ghost town
ジオラマ　人がいなくなった街 ゴーストタウン作ってみた！
かつて人間と呼ばれた動物が暮らしていた街。原因不明、人はいなくなり、建物は朽ち果て、街には野生化した動物が歩き回るようになりました・・・みたいな設定のミニチュアタウン作ってみました。

ジオラマの左手前の部分（交番の左）にも当初建物を置く予定でしたが、そうすると奥に配置した建物（本屋）がなんであるか手前からだとわかりづらくなるので思い切って元々建物はなかったという設定にしました。ただそのままだと殺風景なので切り株と倒木を配置して、その脇から新しく若い木を生えさせて動物も配置、見た人が色々なストーリーを想像できるようなスペースを作りました。

ジオラマのサイズはA4、1/150スケール、製作期間3日です。
過去に作ったペーパークラフトの建物を多く利用したので3日で作れましたが、全部一から作ったらもう１～２日は多くかかったかもしれません。
久々のA4サイズのジオラマ作りでしたが楽しかったです。
