It's not that they have absolutely no fear of these reptiles; they did squirm at the beginning and shouted for help whenever the creatures got fidgety and tried to crawl all over them. The thing is it was also a chance for them to overcome their fears and I was amazed by the fact they did it superbly well, especially this little girl.
Not even halfway through the session, she was the only unlucky one who got bitten by Oscar - the male gecko, who was probably trying to escape from her clutches. It left behind a triangular mark, a little blood and some tears too. We told her it was okay but didn't force her to continue anymore. She was apprehensive for a while but pretty soon, she came to request if she could hold them again - even the pythons, and joined in the fun for the rest of the session without a single whine.
While I always say that these kids are very strong-willed and give me a headache sometimes, they also amaze me with their grit. In fact, they are the ones who remind me to never give up in life and to keep going when the going gets tough. You rock, girl!
