(Day 27 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
“Mercy and kindness and truth” here in Hebrew is “hesed ve emet” which means grace and truth.
Reminds us of “grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” in John 1.
Decide to live by true grace and not by the Law.
“Write them on the tablet of your heart” - under grace, God has written His laws in our hearts.
We are guided by Him through the desires of our heart.
“My son, do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life [worth living] And tranquility and prosperity [the wholeness of life’s blessings] they will add to you. Do not let mercy and kindness and truth leave you [instead let these qualities define you]; Bind them [securely] around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. So find favor and high esteem In the sight of God and man.” (PROVERBS 3:1-4 AMP)
“Let not chesed and emes forsake thee; bind them about thy neck; write them upon the luach (tablet) of thine lev;”
(Proverbs 3:3 OJB)
God promises that when you tithe in worship of Him, He will bless your finances.
“Honor the LORD with your wealth And with the first fruits of all your crops (income); Then your barns will be abundantly filled And your vats will overflow with new wine.” (PROVERBS 3:9-10 AMP)
God only disciplines those that He loves. If you’re going through His disciplining, you can rejoice because you are loved by Him.
Treasure His disciplining because it leads to your profit.
“My son, do not reject or take lightly the discipline of the LORD [learn from your mistakes and the testing that comes from His correction through discipline]; Nor despise His rebuke, For those whom the LORD loves He corrects, Even as a father corrects the son in whom he delights.” (PROVERBS 3:11-12 AMP)
God’s Hesed Wisdom is the most precious thing you can receive in this world.
As Pastor Prince taught in this first sermon of this year:
when you get God’s Hesed wisdom and treasure it, you will be rewarded with long life, riches, honor, pleasure and peace.
“For wisdom’s profit is better than the profit of silver, And her gain is better than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies; And nothing you can wish for compares with her [in value]. Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are highways of pleasantness and favor, And all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy [blessed, considered fortunate, to be admired] is everyone who holds her tightly.” (PROVERBS 3:14-18 AMP)
Peaceful and restful sleep is a gift from God.
When you read God’s word, there is a relaxing feeling and you may even feel sleepy because it contains God’s power that gives you true rest.
You don’t have to fear anything from the world because God is watching out for you.
“Then you will walk on your way [of life] securely And your foot will not stumble. When you lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden fear Nor of the storm of the wicked when it comes [since you will be blameless]; For the LORD will be your confidence, firm and strong, And will keep your foot from being caught [in a trap].” (PROVERBS 3:23-26 AMP)
The upright are believers who have received the free gift of righteousness from Jesus.
The “private counsel” is the leading of the Holy Spirit in our hearts -
He guides us in all matters of our lives whether big or small.
If you’re a believer, your home is blessed.
Pray for true wisdom and humility: that’s how you obtain grace and honor from God.
“For the devious are repulsive to the LORD; But His private counsel is with the upright [those with spiritual integrity and moral courage]. The curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, But He blesses the home of the just and righteous. Though He scoffs at the scoffers and scorns the scorners, Yet He gives His grace [His undeserved favor] to the humble [those who give up self-importance]. The wise will inherit honor and glory, But dishonor and shame is conferred on fools.” (PROVERBS 3:32-35 AMP)

My Takeaways from Proverbs 21 (Super powerful revelations today!)

(Day 14 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
Believers are kings and priests to God in Christ.
May I be like this king who is fully led by the Lord.
“The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the LORD; He turns it whichever way He wishes.” (PROVERBS 21:1 AMP)
“and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 1:6 NKJV)
God doesn’t look at the outward form, but at our intentions.
When we do something good, let it be for pure and right reasons.
You can’t trick or fool God. He knows the truth.
“Every man’s way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs and examines the hearts [of people and their motives]. To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice [for wrongs repeatedly committed].” (PROVERBS 21:2-3 AMP)
This brings to mind the example of investing.
For a diligent person, he or she will take the time to learn about it, research, understand more, and pray about it before rushing to invest.
He or she may be even willing to lose a bit of money to learn valuable lessons, and will continue to persevere diligently.
Whereas a hasty, impulsive and lazy person will just invest carelessly without knowing or understanding anything and not even bother consulting God first.
Let us choose to be diligent and wise, not hasty and foolish.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance and advantage, But everyone who acts in haste comes surely to poverty.” (PROVERBS 21:5 AMP)
The opposite is also true: it is a blessing to live in a house with a woman who loves peace and always seeks to establish peace.
“It is better to live in a corner of the housetop [on the flat roof, exposed to the weather] Than in a house shared with a quarrelsome (contentious) woman.
It is better to dwell in a desert land Than with a contentious and troublesome woman.” (PROVERBS 21:9, 19 AMP)
God loves to abundantly bless a generous believer who has a heart for God’s purposes.
We are blessed to be a blessing to others, not so that we can be selfish and self-serving.
“He who loves [only selfish] pleasure will become a poor man; He who loves and is devoted to wine and [olive] oil will not become rich.” (PROVERBS 21:17 AMP)
Wise people save money and spend thriftily.
“There is precious treasure and oil in the house of the wise [who prepare for the future], But a short-sighted and foolish man swallows it up and wastes it.” (PROVERBS 21:20 AMP)
Carefully choose the words that you speak because that can save you from a lot of trouble.
“He who guards his mouth and his tongue Guards himself from troubles.” (PROVERBS 21:23 AMP)
Believers shouldn’t be afraid of hard work. God will sustain you with His grace.
If a work is led by God, He will give you the empowerment needed to complete the work without you being burnt out in the process.
“The desire of the lazy kills him, For his hands refuse to labor; He craves all the day long [and does no work], But the righteous [willingly] gives and does not withhold [what he has].” (PROVERBS 21:25-26 AMP)
Do you want to go unchallenged? Keep listening to the gospel of grace being preached. That is the truth we need to be listening to.
“A false witness will perish, But a man who listens to the truth will speak forever and go unchallenged.” (PROVERBS 21:28 AMP)
God’s wisdom is the best. Don’t seek the world’s wisdom -
Seek for God’s wisdom in His word and by praying and letting Him lead you in your heart.
These two verses also hint about the future battle at Armageddon that will take place where the devil and his human armies will attempt to war against God. They will be utterly defeated.
“There is no [human] wisdom or understanding Or counsel [that can prevail] against the LORD. The horse is prepared for the day of battle, But deliverance and victory belong to the LORD.” (PROVERBS 21:30-31 AMP)
“And I saw three loathsome spirits like frogs, leaping from the mouth of the dragon (Satan) and from the mouth of the beast (Antichrist, dictator) and from the mouth of the false prophet; for they are [actually] the spirits of demons, performing [miraculous] signs. And they go out to the kings of the entire inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of the great day of God, the Almighty. (“Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is he who stays awake and who keeps his clothes [that is, stays spiritually ready for the Lord’s return], so that he will not be naked--spiritually unprepared--and men will not see his shame.”) And they (demons) gathered the kings and armies of the world together at the place which in Hebrew is called Har-Magedon (Armageddon).” (REVELATION 16:13-16 AMP)
“He who follows righteousness and mercy Finds life, righteousness, and honor.” (Proverbs 21:21 NKJV)

My Takeaways from Proverbs 20

(Day 13 of #ProverbsHesedWisdomChallenge to read a chapter from the Book of Proverbs each day which corresponds to the date as suggested by Pastor Joseph Prince in 7 Jan 2018’s Vision Sunday sermon -
http://www.miltongoh.net/miltons-blog/the-year-of-hesed-wisdom-vision-sunday-new-creation-church-theme-of-the-year-2018 ):
We are not supposed to be confrontational. It is not cool or brave to do that - it’s just stupid.
God wants us to be wise: to seek to establish peace and love instead of encouraging strife.
“It is an honor for a man to keep away from strife [by handling situations with thoughtful foresight], But any fool will [start a] quarrel [without regard for the consequences].” (PROVERBS 20:3 AMP)
The problem here is procrastination. When we think “there’s still a lot of time”, that’s when we fall into this trap.
That’s how we waste time (years even) and waste opportunities.
Many people of the world procrastinate about where they are going to spend their eternity -
They go about life acting as though God doesn’t exist, and then when they least expect it, their life ends.
Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke said it very well: The border to eternity does not lie ahead of us.
It runs parallel to our lives, and may be crossed over at any moment.
People must know that receiving God’s gift of salvation is urgent and of top priority!
“The lazy man does not plow when the winter [planting] season arrives; So he begs at the [next] harvest and has nothing [to reap].” (PROVERBS 20:4 AMP)
I want to be a father like that to my daughter.
I did not have the blessing of having parents who are believers when I was growing up, and as a result suffered many unnecessary trials and troubles because I had no proper role model to follow.
“The righteous man who walks in integrity and lives life in accord with his [godly] beliefs-- How blessed [happy and spiritually secure] are his children after him [who have his example to follow].” (PROVERBS 20:7 AMP)
Sin may seem harmless and even enjoyable at first but it always has a consequence.
Sin produces death in your life. The devil wants us to allow our sinful habits to gradually grow, until it utterly destroys us.
“Food gained by deceit is sweet to a man, But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel [just as sin may be sweet at first, but later its consequences bring despair].” (PROVERBS 20:17 AMP)
Honoring your father and mother comes with God’s promise that you will have a long life.
However the opposite is also true: A person who is evil to his or her parents will have a shortened lifespan.
“Whoever curses his father or his mother, His lamp [of life] will be extinguished in time of darkness.” (PROVERBS 20:20 AMP)
Don’t seek revenge - that’s being self-righteous, as if there is no God who will give you justice.
Put your hope in God because He is a just God and will restore you for your losses.
“Do not say, “I will repay evil”; Wait [expectantly] for the LORD, and He will rescue and save you.” (PROVERBS 20:22 AMP)
We don’t have to worry about our life, how we’re going to provide for our family, or how our future is going to be like.
God has it prepared and ready for us already.
Our job is just to rest in Him by trusting that He has it all under control.
“Man’s steps are ordered and ordained by the LORD. How then can a man [fully] understand his way?” (PROVERBS 20:24 AMP)
Don’t swear or make any vows because none of us know the future and cannot guarantee the ability to keep them.
It is arrogant to presume to know the future.
“It is a trap for a man to [ speak a vow of consecration and] say rashly, “It is holy!” And [not until] afterward consider [whether he can fulfill it].” (PROVERBS 20:25 AMP)
“Mercy and “Lovingkindness” here in Hebrew is the word “hesed” which means grace.
God maintains Himself and His throne by ruling with grace.
It doesn’t say anything about God ruling by the Ten Commandments - the Law is not God’s preferred way of doing things - He loves to show grace.
“Mercy and truth preserve the king, And by lovingkindness he upholds his throne.” (Proverbs 20:28 NKJV)
