Why mindset matter?
No matter our goals are to be successful, to be rich, to be healthy, or other things that fulfill our dreams, our mindset is an important element in coping with life’s challenges. A positive mindset can help us increase efforts to reach greater achievements.
There are 2 kinds of mindsets that can cultivate from young age, according to Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck. One that embraces problems as opportunities to learn, this called growth mindset, another one that avoid them often out of fear to fail, this called fixed mindset.
Let’s make some examples, say Bobby wants to learn pull ups, but he is scared of being laughed at, so he never manages to do one pull up. Judy knows that the challenge is a chance for her to grow and she is willing to pay effort to overcome the challenge, with regularly practicing, she can do a first pull up in 2 months. Bobby is jealous of his friends getting promotions, getting muscles, being happier! He doesn’t like spending time to learn new things, to improve himself, change is not his cup of tea. However Judy loves to see other’s success, people inspire her to be a better person, and she believes that her achievement will bring gain to others as well.
To some degree, it is because of a fixed mindset, we fear, we feel insecurity, we afraid how other people judging us. Sometime we might walk in between these realms, but how do you face this?
It’s the outcome of one’s place in life, like the legend said:
