Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles because of its genuinely happy and welcoming people. Bangkok is the capital of Thailand, and that is where I called home for 8 years of my childhood.
One of my favorite Thai dishes is Yum Woon Sen. It is a beloved Thai salad dish. The word Yum literary translates to “mix,” and it refers to a type of Thai salad. The words Woon Sen means glass noodles. Therefore, Yum Woon Sen is Glass Noodle Salad.
I remember eating Yum Woon Sen in Thailand all the time. It is a dish that every home cook knows how to cook by heart. I had eaten it in school, over street food stalls, and in luxurious restaurants.
Although they all made with similar ingredients, the tastes can be slightly different from one place to another. And one of my favorites was at a food stall in front of a giant shopping center, The Mall Bang Kapi.
After coming to the United States, Yum Woon Sen became a dish that I must order in every Thai restaurant that I visited, and yet I never found one that’s perfect to my palate, like the one in front of The Mall Bang Kapi.
I told my husband about my quest to find the perfect Yum Woon Sen. One day, he piled up all the ingredients for the dish on our kitchen counter. He was determined to make the perfect Yum Woon Sen for me. And for the next 30 minutes, he cast his charm and magic over the dish. Although he looked calm, sweat was dripping down from his forehead.
Surprisingly, he presented me with a taste that is so familiar and yet I have not eaten for the longest time. It is the taste that I missed dearly.
To me, it is the taste of Thailand, the taste of smiles. It is so refreshing and has a perfect balance of savory, citrusy, sweet, and spicy. I believe Yum Woon Sen will also become your family’s favorite salad dish and brighten up everyone.

I was really happy to have got invited last evening for discovering the MOF Chocolatier Patrick Roger's creations for Easter this year. The chef chocolatier is a master in chocolate sculptures as well as in delicious chocolate making. He started his career in a local bakery Maurice Boulay. He worked as a pastry chef in his early days and gradually switched his interest to chocolate and has devoted himself since then. In year 1994, he won the "Grand Prix International de la chocolaterie" and in 2000 he was crowned as a MOF (Meilleur Ouvrier de France) chocolatier.
Having been admiring the chef's breathtaking work for years, it was the first time that I got to see him in person and talk to him, which was absolutely inpsiring. He's a real artist genuinely intrigued by the power of nature. His reflections on the connection between human beings and nature are transformed into artworks in different forms, be it abstract or not.
For this year's Easter collection, the chef chocolatier has presented a series of creations inspired by this wonderful time of the year. Easter eggs, marzipan animals, chocolate scupltures that come in different sizes and shapes with a dash of humor, such as tinned sardines, hedgehogs, and chickens filled with mini chocolate fish.

昨天受邀參加巧克力大師Patrick Roger的復活節創作發表，大師也很親切地與我聊了一會，分享了自己的創作理念，並表達對目前人與自然之間的關係惡化感到憂慮。
Patrick Roger是一位真正的藝術家，他原本是學甜點出身，後來在工作中逐漸發現自己對巧克力的熱愛，開始轉向專注於巧克力領域。他在1994年獲得國際巧克力大賽（Coup du monde de chocolat）桂冠、2000年更獲得法國最佳工藝職人-巧克力師（MOF, Meilleur Ouvrier de France）的榮銜。除了美味的巧克力外，他更以巧克力雕塑家之姿聞名全球。在他巴黎的店裡總是可以看到雷霆萬鈞、令人震撼的巨型巧克力雕塑。
今年的復活節，Patrick Roger主廚推出了一系列的作品：巧克力復活節蛋、巧克力動物雕塑、杏仁膏動物、以及魚形榛果帕林內巧克力。除了有幽默的沙丁魚罐頭造型的巧克力外，最可愛的莫過於刺蝟（les horissons）巧克力雕塑了。

Hi my name is Janet Lee and here's my short video to hopefully give you guys a better idea of my teaching experience as well as my teaching approach.

My teaching journey first began in high school when I was helping my own grandparents pass their US citizenship test.
我的首次教學經驗是我在美國讀高中的時候開始，當時為了幫助我的祖父母通過美國公民考試。
For this I downloaded materials online, I was creating lesson plans and also was doing a lot of recordings explaining everything in both English and Chinese.
為協助他們更容易通過公民考式，我在網路上搜集整理了資料，並且創建了一套適合他們學習的課程規劃。並且耐心的用英語及中文解釋一切。
From here, they ended up spreading a lot of the curriculum I was making for them to their own friends and so naturally I began leading a class.
自此爾後我的祖父母也將這套適合華人學習的英語教程分享傳遞給他們的朋友，所以我自然而然的開始帶領他們學習英語。
This lasted for two years and this is where I really truly fell in love with teaching.
這教學經歷持續了有兩年之久，這也是我愛上教學的原因所在。
Another large classroom experience when I had was for my uncle's university, Sichuan Normal University.
另外一個大型的英語教程專案是我叔叔曾就讀的四中師範大學。
Here they had a yearly community service event where they had one student from each discipline go to a very large high school in a much less privileged area.
在這裏，他們每年都會舉辦社區服務，讓每個學科的一名學生去比較資源匱乏的社區進行公益教學服務。
I taught English and also again I really truly felt like I was making a real impact. It was a life-changing experience for me.
而我負責的教程就是英語，這次的經歷讓我印象深刻，我感覺得我發揮正向的影響力同時也改變了我的生命經歷。
Other than that, most of my teaching and tutoring has just been for my classmates as well as my two younger siblings and their friends as well.

This I genuinely just enjoyed doing because I liked helping others.
我非常的喜歡教學，因為我喜歡幫助別人學習成長。
Since I began my finance job, which is my most recent job experience, I really haven't had the free time to do this anymore or things I used to enjoy, but I quit two months ago.
自從我開始從事財務工程相關工程(這是最近年來的工作經歷)以來，我就比較沒有空閒時間去做這件事或者我過去喜歡的事情，近二個月就就辭去了那份財務工程的工作。
Now I have been learning again through online classes and learning digital design from mentors, as well as teaching again at Sunday school to first graders.
現在我透過線上課程與導師再次學習有關數位設計的課程，並在假日學校向一年級的學弟學妹做教學。
This will last up until I move back to Taipei in September where I'll be helping my dad with his own small business, continue learning on my own time and hopefully also be able to tutor.
這將持續到我九月搬回台北，我會協助幫忙我父親的小型企業，並持續學習並希望能夠成為一名英語教學者。
As for my teaching approach I really believe in a flipped classroom experience.
關於我的教學方法，我真的通相信翻轉課堂體驗。
This would be where the student is also teaching the teacher as well.
這也是學生在教老師。中文叫「教學相長」
I love this because I think I love interacting with people and I love seeing students interact with each other.
我喜歡這種互動教學方式，同時我也喜歡與人交流，也喜歡看到學生間互相討論交流。
This would be through group work, presentations and games. Basically it's not just one person talking and the other person listening.
這會將透過團體活動，像簡報發表又像遊戲般的方式，基本上像傳統的英語教學方式一個人獨白演講。
This would apply the same way even with one-on-one tutoring I would make sure the student is speaking back to me, so that I know they're also learning and have feedback as well.
即便是一對一的英語教學我會會採用相同的方式，讓課程更生動，讓學生能回饋交談英語，這樣更有助於英語學習並從中得到樂趣及反饋。

即使如此，這張專輯並沒有流於自我重複的說教，而是透過自己在美國成長過程親眼目睹的（台灣媒體跟好萊塢電影不告訴你的）具體事實，鍾翔宇戳破所謂的「美國夢」，一層一層爬梳嘻哈音樂如何失去最初的反抗精神、分析爭取勞動權益的困境甚至環保議題。很難想像這麼龐大的知識量被鍾翔宇精巧的放在一張不到 20 分鐘的專輯當中，這樣大膽的嘗試絕對值得你靜下心搭配歌詞細細玩味。搭配 Ransom-Notes 充滿黃金年代風格的編曲，讓嚴肅的歌詞不再難以下嚥。而鍾翔宇精心設計的多韻和不時的好笑 punchline，也展現他想讓歌曲直面普羅大眾的誠意。
批判美國的霸權和當今的社會經濟制度等於動搖了非常多人的基本信念，鍾翔宇也深知這一點。然而看到不公不義的事實而站出來發聲，這是讓鍾翔宇之所以愛上嘻哈的浪漫初衷。《星星之火》這張專輯就如同他的偶像，英國嘻哈詩人 Lowkey 的 “Soundtrack to the Struggle” 一樣，是貨真價實的革命之聲，所有真心想衝破世界當今所面對的困境的人，肯定能從鍾翔宇的音樂中得到啟發。
Shortly after his 2018 album "Bombard the Headquarters" was nominated best hip hop album by the Golden Indie Music Awards, Xiangyu, one of the few openly communist rappers in the Sinosphere, together with his comrade Ransom-Notes from the UK, began working on "a Single Spark." In comparison to his previous album, which contains comedic songs like "Paolyta B" and "the Idol's Handbook," "a Single Spark" takes on a more serious tone and delves deeper into Xiangyu's ideology.
Despite the comparatively somber tone, this new album avoids repetitive preaching. Through sharing his personal experiences and the things he saw growing up in the United States, Xiangyu debunks the so-called "American Dream." Using materialist dialectics, he tells us how hip hop has lost its rebellious essence, and also analyzes power dynamics and touches on topics such as the environment. It is difficult to imagine how Xiangyu and Ransom-Notes were able to condense such a vast expanse of knowledge into an album less than 20 minutes in length. You will not be disappointed should you decide to sit down and listen to such a bold album while studying the lyrics. Reminiscent of hip hop's golden age, Ransom-Notes' beatmaking provides the listener with the sugar that makes the pill easier to swallow. Xiangyu's carefully constructed rhymes and the occasional humorous punch line demonstrate his sincere attempt to make his agitprop more accessible to the layperson.
Criticizing US hegemony and the socioeconomic order of today is tantamount to shattering the fundamental beliefs of many, and Xiangyu is acutely aware of this. The fact that hip hop can serve as a platform for pointing out injustices is what attracted Xiangyu to the genre in the first place. "A Single Spark" is similar to "Soundtrack to the Struggle" by Lowkey, one of Xiangyu's influences, in the sense that it is truly revolutionary in content. Those who genuinely seek to transform the predicaments plaguing our world today will certainly find inspiration in Xiangyu's music.
