【Boracay - It’s more fun in the Philippines】Paradise ain’t that far away!
Longing for that trip to paradise but stressing over budget concerns? Check out Boracay, an Island I call Paradise where I did not need to squeeze my wallet to enjoy!
▶ Best time to visit Boracay ◀
The best time to visit Boracay is from November to May. The temperatures during this period range between 25 ° and 32 ° C and it is mostly dry.
Weather still depends on the global climate change.
▶ Visa for Malaysian ◀
Malaysian DO NOT need a Visa to enter Philippines.
▶ Terminal Fee at Kalibo Airport ◀
Many tourist are not aware of this and usually caught with surprise as they do not have enough cash on them. Remember to prepare 700peso (RM55.00) to pay at the airport departure for a compulsory non-refundable Terminal Fee.
▶ Kalibo Airport to Boracay Island ◀
You may opt for self arrange transfers or purchase an “all-in-one” packages offered at the airport. It’s not expensive! Tour Operators at the airport offer transfers to Boracay Island for 250pesos = ~RM20.00. This price includes one-way sharing van transfer and one-way ferry ticket. Kalibo Airport to Boracay Island is approx. 2 hours (drive + ferry).
▶ Transportation in Boracay Island ◀
Tuk-Tuk is the choice of transport! It’s cheap and convenient. The price ranges from 50peso (RM4.00) up to 200peso (RM16.00) depending on the location and distance. Be sure to have an agreed price before getting onboard and don’t be afraid to bargain!
▶ Accommodation ◀
Boracay has mainly three stations where most hotels are located! Ranging from budget hotel / dorms from RM40.00 a night up to RM3000.00 a night for those 5* hotels!
▶ Activities ◀
Do not purchase any tours or activities from touts at the jetty. I was offered a set of tours for 7,000peso (~RM600) when the exact tours and activities from a licensed tour operator only cost 2,500peso (~RM200). These touts has a way to gain your sympathy with sad stories! So beware! Remember to hunt around and bargain.

▶ Shopping ◀
Who goes to an Island and think of shopping? Haha. Well, if you want to get some souvenirs for your friends and family back home, there are plenty! Custom keychain with names, dreamcatchers, lovely earrings, and magnets. There are even some shops selling custom hand-drawn t-shirt!
▶ Nightlife ◀
Party? Club? Bar? Pub? Boracay beach side bars, pubs and clubs is the place you must check out! Your choice, sitting on the sandy beach, on a bean bag, or on a deckchair sipping a bottle of Red Horse Beer. Red Horse Beer is a local favourite and its price starts from only 60peso (RM5.00) a bottle at the pubs! If you want an exciting club scene for the weekend, don’t forget to check out Galaxy Club. It is about 10 minutes Tuk-Tuk ride from Station 2 at approx. 150peso (RM12.00).

Rendang Chicken from Malaysia ??
While unable to travel even around my own home country ~ Malaysia, I actually craved for Rendang Chicken during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, unsure my craving reason ?? Though I'm not a spicy foodie, however I love foods with spices& thick gravy. Lol...Ha...Ha...?❤
Rendang chicken is a spicy & spices stewed dish originated from Minangkabau, Indonesia. Specifically, this is a speciality of Batusangkar & Bukittinggi, Indonesia. Rendang not just to cook with chicken, it can be with beef (Rendang Beef), lamb (Rendang Lamb) etc. Read more via ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendang
In Malaysia ??, rendang dishes are traditionally served among the Malay community. So, whenever you're travelling across the different states around Malaysia, rendang dishes can be easily spotted at either roadside stalls, cafes or restaurants as well as a famous home cooking dish for the Malay, actually non Malay too. You can enjoy the rendang dish with steamed rice, noodles, bread etc. Hmm...The rendang cooking styles, ingredients & taste may be different from state to state within Malaysia. That's the unique cultures of Malaysians
Do enjoy this cooking vlog via https://youtu.be/YUrE1B30RxI which being captured (by Sienny Yong aka SiennyLovesDrawing) from my mum's home cooking of chicken rendang during MCO to ease my craving, yeah!! It's now much easier to prepare rendang dishes with ready to cook sauces in the market. In this vlog, my mum was using the Gillies Rendang from AYA Real Food (? https://ayarealfood.com/product/gillies-rendang-120g/). The sauce ingredients are Split Gill Mushroom, Coconut Milk, Onion, Oil, Sugar, Garlic, Coconut Paste, Lemongrass, Ginger, Galangal, Dried Chili, Salt, Turmeric Leaves, Lime Leaves & Spices
Whenever you're travelling to Malaysia, do remember to taste a rendang dish during your trip

21 Days left to my second bikini comp.
I was given the chance to travel to Phuket with my good friend and manager Sarah Lian.
Here's how i kept to staying on track with my food while on holiday.
Just follow the Ps = Plan. Prepare. Pack.. and bonus Protein.
I knew I was already travelling, so I planned out what I was going to be eating and what I could eat. From there I prepared my meals. Then I packed my food and snacks.
Pretty straight forward.
1. Prepped my meals from home. Packed them into zip lock bags. This way I was able to ensure I could still meet my macros and limit the mystery of not knowing what was used to cook meats and veggies. I also packed the snacks I know I would be able to munch on like Japanese Cucumber and I permitted myself roasted seaweed.
2. Packed on the protein. Whenever I'm out, i ensure the first thing I can get is a solid meat protein source plus veggies. I was fortunate that I have access to a restaurant / lounge where I knew I could find chicken. For those who do not, best bet is a chicken rice shop, you can get your veg and chicken.
3. I prepacked my fibre powders to avoid any gut problems
4. Eating at restaurants, first thing I look on the menu is chicken. Grilled, steamed, Baked would be good options. It's also cheaper cause seafoods are a lot more expensive.
5. WATER is your best friend. Stay hydrated so that you avoid feeling bloated, lethargic and sleepy.
6. Find a grocery / supermarket to get the good snacks. Nearby to where we were staying I know there was a Tesco available. I'd recommend for to go there and get fruits, nuts like almonds will fill you up good, if you must go for dark choco.
Quick update on life and my thoughts on comp.
Lots happened in the past week. Went for some athletic rehab which I wanna share with you in the next video. I rested a lil bit more cause muscles were overly tight, from lack of stretching and rest. Plus the big news which i didn't get to reveal on OCT 30 was, last Friday was my last day on the station I dedicated my time to for the past 4 years. The video of that will be in the next vlog.

Learn how to recognise symptoms of mild altitude sickness, as well as the potentially deadly HAPE and HACE (fluid in the lungs/brain). Plenty of advice on how to prepare for the trek, plan a safe itinerary, and what to pack.
Follow our family, including our 11-year old son Lionel, on the Annapurna Circuit in winter. See how the altitude affected us as we climbed Thorong La (5,416 meters/ 17769 feet) – Kirk struggled with his breathing, Lionel felt nauseous, and I had mild hypothermia But we all made it safely in the end.
SUMMARY
*Watch out: some people may feel unwell as low as 2,000 meter (6,500 feet).
*Plan a slower ascent above 3,000 meters (10,000 feet)
*Climb high, sleep low. To be safe, only gain 300 meters (1,000 feet) in sleeping elevation at high altitude.
*If you climb faster than the recommended rate, you can build a rest days every three or four days to acclimatise.
*If you suffer from mild altitude sickness, drink a lot, and rest
*Avoid alcohol, which slows down breathing and makes you dehydrated. Avoid sleeping pills. And smoking will certainly not help!
*If you see no improvement, spend an extra night at the same altitude
*If you feel worse, descend to the last place where you felt well
*If you develop HAPE or HACE, this is a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate descent of and specialist medical care. You may have to descend in the middle of the night, don't wait till morning. Once fluid builds up in the brain or lungs, you can die in a matter of hours.
DISCLAIMER
This video is based on first-hand experience of struggling with the altitude on the Annapurna Circuit. We also spent decades of travelling in the Himalayas and Alps. With three decades in TV journalism, I've also done extensive research on the impact of high altitude.
I am NOT a doctor, and I do not have direct experience of taking drugs for altitude sickness like Diamox / Acetazolamide or Nifedipine for HAPE or the use of Gamow bags for hyperbaric treatment. So I have not included any information on this topic. Only sticking to what I have first-hand experience of.
I hope this video helps you plan a safe and enjoyable trek.
