Hi from San Diego peeps 🇺🇸! I am so happy and excited that I get to finally reunite with all of my closest childhood besties all at once! We all met through my mom’s English language cram school, Chuck! As we grew older, each of us began moving out of Taiwan for educational reasons, we’re literally scattered all over the world. I truly understand that a chance like this doesn’t just come in often, so when Jody (the bride) asked us to be her bridesmaids, of course we said YES!! (Ahhh!) It’s my first time experiencing a wedding held in America! But before I get in deeper, I want to briefly introduce you guys to these girls!
來介紹一下我的兒時好友～我們都是Jody的伴娘🥰我們都是在我媽媽的補習班認識的！跟Jody跟Pamela是幼稚園認識的～Elena 跟 Jennifer 是小學二年級認識的！

Pamela: known each other since 4, been on my vlogs a few times, born in the states, works in Finance in Irvine, California

Jennifer: Known each other since 8. She’s always been the smartest. A little uptight🙊 Got into one of the best high schools and Universities in Taiwan, snabbed her business degree in London. Currently working in London as a consultant manager. 

Elena: Known each other since 8, went to Shanghai American school since middle school, went to the states for University. Currently working for Nike in Shanghai! @ The Guild Hotel, San Diego, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

有關去英國旅行學英文（本文寫得有點散亂，無暇雕琢文筆，旨在傳遞資訊，敬請見諒）

相信大家都識得一啲人，因為長期處於係一個地方，長期浸淫之下學識左一門語言，例如留學生、international school既學生、BBC、CBC同ABC。但係我可以同大家講，我絕對唔係咁嘅人，因為我從來冇喺English speaking countries住過，all I have done, is having travelled to a few English speaking countries for a few times. That’s all.

自問唔係旅行狂熱份子，畢竟舟車勞頓壓力很大，但旅行所學到的語言和文化知識，是無價的。

✈️ 住澳洲host family屋企學英文
十四歲既時候去跟合唱團去澳洲表演，住host family屋企，同佢地屋企既小朋友傾計，認識到邊個女歌手叫Kelly Clarkson，見到小朋友屋企睡房有成套Harry Potter，親身感受到Harry Potter有幾咁受歡迎，host family同我介紹佢地英國特色醬汁Marmite，味道很奇怪，，那時候很不喜歡吃。最近一次去莎翁故鄉Stratford upon Avon又再一次食到，發現少量吃其實味道也不錯，還介紹了這種奇怪的醬汁給同行友人。見到host family日日早餐食weetabix，第一次知道有呢種早餐食品。

✈️ 2014第一次去倫敦
2014年第一次去倫敦旅行，最「特別」的文化體驗就是在大英博物館裡被扒了荷包，最後去警署下口供，為了claim保險同警察溝通落口供，回應警察的提問，詳細的描述案發經過，見證到真實的British English at work。賊人只偷了銀包裏的錢，卻把銀包、裏面的護照和音樂劇門票放在郵箱內，警察尋回銀包，歸還給我，那天我懷着沈重的心情照樣去了音樂劇《悲慘世界》，那天身無分文的我，沒法買場刊，旁邊的英國男人是一個音樂劇忠實擁躉，他得知我的經歷後，把場刊借給我閱讀之餘，還自掏荷包買了一本新的場刊送給我。

✈️ 2018年再遊倫敦
2018年第二次去倫敦旅行，因為累積了更多教學經驗，更深刻的了解到要把從一個second language learning environment裡學到的知識學以致用實在不簡單。

第一關語言測試在入境，也許是反恐的關係吧，英國入境人員問的問題千奇百怪，可以問你和旅伴如何認識，打算看哪一套音樂劇，甚至考你莎士比亞故鄉在哪裡；我check in乘飛機回港時又被希思路的地勤人員問我是不是Dual-national，我心想：英文功力稍遜的朋友也未必明白他在講什麼😅。

去旅行還會常常與服務業的朋友包括售貨員和酒店人員對話，當你提出一些request（要求），例如Can I pay by card?/ Can I have the menu? 等等，你一定不會聽到他們說：Yes, you can.，而是會說Sure, of course, certainly 等等，因為「Yes, you can」聽起來好像由上而下地給予准許一樣，不夠禮貌。

當然，即使去旅行用的英語也有很多層次，和服務生對話也許還好。如果要在倫敦看劇（不論是musical，還是play），就需具備一定程度的聆聽能力和文化知識了。今次我看了兩齣劇，包括Wicked和Shakespeare的Romeo and Juliet，也深深感受到這一點。

今次二十天深度遊，連搭乘搭London Underground也有很深感受。地下鐵宣布的語調用得標準而清晰，一高一低都有技巧；親耳見識到Warwick、Greenwich、Norwich同Southwark這些字裡不合理的silent sounds；Underground裡的廣告文宣寫得清新幽默，叫人賞心悅目。

一邊遊倫敦，一邊觀看和英國歷史有關的紀錄片，學到有關英格蘭歷史的黑暗面和光明面，才覺得遊覽的景點更有層次，更值得到訪。

相信大家都會認同，學語言，由第二語言環境學起，慢慢進步至可以把所學用於第一語言環境之中，滿足感是最大的。這裏講的用，不只是能聽、能說，還是能分析，欣賞和破解到語言背後的玄機。要做到這一點，不但要勤分析，也需要一定的天份。

這些種種的經歷，都令我親身體驗到how English works，更令我覺得將來要更深入的認識這個國家，不只為大家介紹英國語文，也為大家介紹英國文化。

如果可以的話，大家也不妨看看有沒有機會到訪英國。往往只有到訪一個地方，才能體味到語言是活的、真實存在的。或許你會發現英語比你想像中簡單，也有可能比你想像中困難呢！
