Vlog 1: #Kumamoto (5 days, 4 nights) As promised, I will share the flight and transportation routes for those of you who may visit Kumamoto, Japan! 🐻
First and foremost, there is no direct flight from HKG to Kumamoto, so you must travel by airplane to the Fukuoka airport. The total travel time should be approximately 2.5-3hrs from the Fukuoka airport. Once you have arrived, you have a few public transport options to get to Kumamoto Station. (Most straightforward: by direct bus, you can book at the bus counter; a cheaper option: by local bus route outside the glass doors, take the bus to Hakata station, then look for the JR and Shinkansen section, get on the Sakura Shinkansen route to Kumamoto city). Depending on where your hotel is, you must take another bus to get to the hotel. Buses will be located outside the Kumamoto Station on the main street open area. A good tip if you do get lost, you can depend on your iphone map app to navigate, otherwise bringing a friend who can speak Japanese and/or reads chinese kanji characters would be very helpful! #thatswhatididformom 🌻
The downtown and shopping areas of Kumamoto city are quite close to each other (all around the Kumamoto Castle). We went to the local crafts center, #katoshrine , #SuizenjiJojuen Gardens, #KumamotoMuseum , #KumamotoCastle renovation site, #SakuraNoBaba , the long shopping streets in the city this time. If you want to see the castle, unfortunately the restoration from the 2016 earthquake will not be fully repaired until 2038. But you will still be able to spot it from far away or directly under the towers. Lastly, if you are a Kumamon fan like us, honestly they are everywhere! This mascot is the face of Kumamoto and there are souvenirs of his face in every store! Haha anyways, my next post will talk about #KurokawaOnsen , so stay tuned! 🐻🐻
