【應景美語：端午節】
端午節到了，來學一些相關的英文用法吧！因為有4天的連假，字比較多哦！

★ 端午節：Dragon Boat Festival
(字面上，dragon boat 是龍舟，festival 是節日。）
Happy Dragon Boat Festival！

★ 龍舟比賽：dragon boat race
I watched the dragon boat races at Anping Harbor a few years ago.
(幾年前，我在安平港看過龍舟比賽。)
★ 划（龍舟）row /'ro/
We rowed our dragon boat pretty fast!
(我們的龍舟划得相當快！)
★ 粽子：sticky rice dumplings
(字面上，sticky rice 是糯米，dumplings 是餃子。我知道這個英文有點不配中文，但以前西方人就把這個東西叫做 sticky rice dumplings, 現在已經改不了了！)
I think I’m going to make some sticky rice dumplings with my mom this year.
(我今年大概會跟媽媽包些粽子。)
★ 立蛋：stand an egg upright 或 stand an egg on end
Stand 是「立」，upright 是「直」。End 是「末端」。
It took me a long time to stand my egg upright!
(我立蛋花了很多時間！)

阿，我還知道端午節的由來，是跟屈原有關對吧？如果你想跟外國人敘述屈原的故事，有些用語一定要會：
★ 被流放：be exiled
Qu Yuan was exiled.
(屈原被流放了。)
★ 愛國：patriotic
He wrote many patriotic poems.
(他寫了很多愛國的詩.）
★ 自殺：commit suicide
★ 跳河：commit suicide by jumping into a river.
Qu Yuan committed suicide by jumping into a river.
(屈原跳河了。)
★ 漁夫/漁人/漁民：fisherman, fishermen
Fishermen threw sticky rice dumplings into the river to protect his body.
(為了保護他的屍體，漁民把粽子丟到河裡。)
