I’ve been meaning to find an alternative to the A.S. Seafood Soup at Depot Road (when they moved to Bedok, the standard dropped so much), and received many recommendations for Yan Ji Seafood Soup at Old Airport Road.
Finally tried it! Usually when I’m at this hawker centre, my usual would be Kway Chap from To-Ricos, but I decided to give this a go.
It’s rather similar in terms of ingredients and menu, but there was something to the texture of the meat and sweetness of the soup that I preferred at A.S. Seafood Soup. Since that’s no longer available, this will be the next best alternative, I guess!
The minced meat was flavourful, prawns were huge and quite fresh, soup was really tasty. Will definitely head back again for another bowl - probably as a side dish add-on to my Kway Chap main. 😂
