After my squats yesterday, I woke up today and the first thing I did was click my right hip. I clicked it, nothing happened. And I clicked it again and again and again. Absolutely nothing happened. I stood up, and I didn't feel pain. I reached for my phone and I didn't feel restriction and fear in my right hip.
A little history into my hip. About 5 years after starting weightlifting, I got a coach that was coached by a Bulgarian. So he would make me squat daily. Ever since then, I developed this hip problem, those that know me, see me hitting my hip flexor and constantly trying to stretch them.
Has it been an absolute horror to live with? Yeah.
Usually, after squats, I suffer for 2 days that's why I didn't like squatting. I just stick to pulls because that's less painful. Today, I feel like I could squat again and again. I'm just crazy excited.
I've had some discussions with an orthopedic, a sport science professor, a parkour artist/weightlifter and I''ve emailed Diane Fu so hopefully she can get back to me or maybe get that supple leopard dude Kelly to respond.
So far the ideas I've gotten is;
Horrible idea:
- Grates away at meniscus and destabilizes that ACL
- Tears the ligaments away
- Anatomically, extremely dangerous
- Deactivates the glute medius
Awesome idea:
- We hyperextend the glute medius too much by pushing knees out, thus killing activation. Pushing it in might activate glute med.
- An active push might not be the same as an involuntary collapse because the muscles aren't activated to take the load away.

Going against fitness industry experts is one thing. Going against medical industry experts, is a different game altogether.
