WELCOMING AND INTRODUCING the 建中樂旗聯隊 Chien Kuo High School Marching Band, three-time World Champion from Taipei City, Taiwan. Founded in 1983, it has enriched the lives of more than 2500 band alumni by nurturing their performing talents and providing a stage to showcase their musicianship. It also creates a sense of discipline, responsibility, confidence and pride: all important life lessons. The band, which currently has 75 members, has also enchanted audiences around the world with wonderful performances that brought home nine top-three placements in the World Championship for Marching Showbands, and two champions in the Showbands Live! competition of the Calgary Stampede. It has also garnered more than twenty championships in concert band and marching band contests in Taiwan's National Scholastic Music Contest. Chien Kuo High School Marching Band is a proud recipient of the 2016 Sudler Shield Award, presented by the John Philip Sousa Foundation.
