This podcast features Ng Tien Khuan, one of the speakers for TEDx Petaling Street 2014, and his view on organic farming.
Previously a professor at TAR College and a counsellor with Life Line Association, Tien Khuan’s big change in life happened when he decided to venture into organic farming. He set up Terra Organic Farm and applied a farming technique called Biodynamic Farming, which he learned from New Zealand and Australia.
“Farming is actually the biggest pollution source in the world. But Biodynamic Farming can turn pollution into contribution,” explained Tien Khuan.
Nowadays, there is concern over the quality of food consumed. Terra Organic Farm was set up to help create better organic farming methods. “It was a journey full of blood, sweat and tears but giving up never crossed my mind. I see hope and future in Biodynamic Farming,” Tien Khuan said.
In 2012, Terra Organic Farm was awarded the Biodynamic Agriculture Certification. To date, it still holds the record for being the first organic farm to receive such a certification.
In typical agricultural environments, soil structure deteriorates with excessive use of chemicals and fertilizers. “When plants fail to interact with nature, the harvest is poor. Biodynamic Farming provides a more complete environment where plants are able to interact with soil, air, sun and water,” he explained.

“在全球，农耕是最大的污染源，Biodynamic耕耘法能够把污染变成贡献。”田环解释。
在这个人们越来越关注食物品质问题的年代，和平有机农场的设立，是希望可以将有机农耕做得更好、更完整。“一路走来，八年的旅程确实不简单，可是我从未想过放弃或改变。学习了Biodynamic耕耘法之后，我看见了希望。”他继续说。
2012年，和平有机农场获得了Biodynamic Agriculture认证。到目前为止，它是马来西亚唯一获得此项认证的有机农场。
Biodynamic耕耘法深入跟宇宙与天地之间的一个互动。在一般的农业里，太多的人为控制如化肥与农药，造成土壤结构变差。“当植物无法与自然资源互动，收成品就会变得很差。Biodynamic耕耘法提供植物一个完整的生活环境，让它们与土壤、空气、阳光、水分进行互动。”田环解释说。
