At the age of seven, this girl amazes me in more ways than one.
Like how she learns to play the piano faster than I can keep up, how she skipped the first three stages of her SwimSafer Test and went straight to bronze, how she loves to cook and is good at using knives to chop, how she loves to watch zombie shows with her and is so composed and chill, and how she draws cute comics and writes sweet messages in her cards to us.
Much more importantly, she has the biggest heart and that is easily seen from how she dotes on her little brother and cares for her elder sister. In fact, she is often the mediator when it comes to resolving conflicts and helps to break up fights between the other two. She will try to reason with both, pacify them, calm them down and when that fails, she brings one party, usually the boy, to another corner and suggests games to play together so everyone is happy.
I always thought being the middle child would be hard because she has big shoes to fill and doesn't enjoy get out of jail free cards as much since she is not the baby of the family anymore. It is definitely not easy and I see her struggling from time to time too. However, she also showed me how it can be an amazing journey too because you get the best of both worlds, an elder sibling to learn from and do advanced activities with and a younger one to play with and still enjoy doing the kiddy things.
That said, we still have a few things to work on, like how she has a tendency to roll eyes, do facepalms or make snappy remarks at times. But then again, so do I. Haha. As far as I know, we are in a good place for now and a lot of credit goes to this little one.
