This beautiful view is in front of this award-winning, iconic, unforgettable and luxurious resort in Boracay Island, the Philippines.
But the only true about what I said is, “unforgettable”.
After a long walk from station 3 to DiscoveryS hores Boracay, I decided to grab my favorite pasta, aglio olio. There were a few people taking photos of food at the entrance and I was greeted by a guard who happened to be the owner, and the waiter of the resort.
His greetings was so warm, he asked if I had a QR code, which is required before you get in the island. His tone was so condescending and unfriendly, and so I thought, he was the owner, acting as a guard. I politely answered “yes, and I would not be able to get inside the island itself, if I did not have one.” Hence, my response for his already condescending voice. He answered back with a more condescending voice “I am just asking!” Which was then again, obvious from the first question he asked, because, it sounded with a question mark AND an exclamation point.
I eagerly asked if they had pasta, and he said he had to go inside first and check. When I was approaching him again, to ask if there serve pasta, he asked “what kind of pasta?”, now the guard became the waiter. I did not know a luxurious hotel hires a guard and a waiter at the same time.
The resort had a few people. Yes, which means there were plenty of vacant tables inside. He then approached me and ask me to dine it at a location where the table was filthy, the chair was dirty, and secluded from the rest of the guests. I confirmed four times with the manager if it was really their protocol, to let the walk-in guest eat there. Which was then a lie because I saw a few people dining it at the better place, not hotel guests, but walk-ins.

Hi everyone! Tomorrow's my BIRTHDAY! And I have TWO BIRTHDAY WISHES. Can you help?
1) I am helping to set-up my adopted family's new house. I have been looking after them for the past 10 years. This beautiful family consists of 3 beautiful boys (13, 16 and 18 year olds respectively), 1 girl (19 years old - the sole breadwinner), and their parents. It a small bare house. No furnitures whatsoever. We will be starting from scratch with the house set-up.
If any of you have furnitures, house appliances, dining table, beds, mattresses, study table, paint anything that you would like to giveaway, please do let me know? Anything that would be useful for their new home. Or if you would like to maybe get one for them, let me know too? I will document the process of our house set-up ❤
2) I am looking for used laptops, desktops, CPU that any of you may have and would possibly be giving away. There are many teenagers in our school who will be enrolling into college soon but are not able to afford one due to financial difficulties. Almost all of the families I deal with are from low-income backgrounds and are genuinely in need of these items. If you do have one, let me know please?
These are both my BIRTHDAY WISHES. I am grateful for what I have and there is nothing else I would ask for. Your endless love and support have helped me to aid so many people and we are doing so much together.
This year, I can only think of fulfilling wishes of those who are really in need.
- to those of you who would like to help by funding a little contribution, it would also be great! I could use them to purchase some of the needed items.

Thank you!
Lots of love,

#rosannewong BEACH CLEAN UP - SAI WAN 🧹 🧤 🧤
The last hiking trip to Sai Wan beach was two weeks ago and we were distressed and disgusted by the amount of rubbish, mainly plastic items along the coast. We have made a promise (as a family) to organise a beach clean up at Sai Wan beach and we did it yesterday. We couldn’t thank our friends and like minded buddies enough who have showed up for this beach clean up day.
Plastic bags, bottles, food containers (plastic and styrofoam) and food wrappers lying discarded along the streets and at the beach. Ultimately most of this waste ends up in the sea where it can choke fish, birds and sea creatures. This destroys the ocean’s ecosystem as sea creatures would eat bits of plastic and styrofoam mistakenly as their food and ends up back on our dining table via the seafood we eat.
Do you know PLASTIC takes about 450 YEARS or more to break down?? With this figure you could imagine how much plastic we have on earth now that is waiting at the recycling plants, which the volume can’t be handled hence overspill to landfill and ocean. Even after it does, it releases toxins into its surroundings, our earth (where we breathe, live and grow our food) and ocean (where all sea creatures live and where our seafood are derived from)
Earth is our home, she should be worthy of our dedicated care! Don’t wait until it’s too late to act, join us to save the planet that has given so much to us. We want children and future generations to be able to enjoy theWorld’s beautiful beaches, nature trails and country parks. EVERYONE CAN DO THEIR PART, yes EVERYONE and it starts from home:
1• Mindfully stop styrofoam usage
2• Mindfully reduce plastic usage
Solutions for 1 & 2 is to bring your own take away reusable containers, reusable straws (or don’t use straws at all) and reusable shopping bags.
3• Practice separation of plastic, paper and glass disposal and place it in the apartment’s recycling bins.
Lastly, if you don’t see a rubbish bin around, ALWAYS take your rubbish with you. IF ONLY we could all take care of our own rubbish, this world will be a very beautiful place for us all to live in and no one has to pick up other’s rubbish anymore.
