[It's moon/mid autumn festival today!]
This day is very important in asian culture and is celebrated not just among ethnic chinese! Also Japan and korea!!
If u have any taiwanese friend, on their stories you can easily see them barbequing maybe 2 or 3 times a week😂 thats what im seeing these days every day🥲
Although many asian country celebrate the moon festival, but taiwaneses are the only ones who barbeque on this day. Do you know why? Definitely not because of our ancestor

[Its Moon festival/Mid-autumn festival!]
■When
On the 15th of August in our Lunar Calendar, which means this year 2019 it is celebrated on 13th of September.
(The full moon on this day is the roundest in the year)
■What do we do?
Like Chinese new year, on this day it is important for family to gather together.
We have a Chinese saying: 月圓人團員
When the moon is full, the family should be... full?! (Which means gather together)
The image in most Taiwanese's head on this day would be: the whole family sitting together eating pomelo/ mooncake/ Barbeque while enjoying the image of the moon.
Of course nowadays, it might be barbecuing nonstop with your friends but...
■What shall you eat:
*Mooncake!
(Go to any bakery, or even 711!! You will find them. This is one of the reason we gain a lot of weight during this time)
Why: On this day we used to worship the moon and this was one of the offerings.
*Barbeque!
Why: I'm not sure how this started, but definitely don't have to go back to the ancient times. Pretty sure it was because of some merchants...
But creates a unique scene for this day, people barbecuing right on the street in front of their house (and the whole street is doing that)
Pomelo!
Its mainly because it's a seasonal fruit I'd say (after all the bbq and mooncake~we really need sth healthy). But definitely, it stands an important role in moon festival! And after you have finished, dont waste the skin of it! Seriously, just like the picture, we used to do that when we were kids.
