The lion that has regularly appeared in the paintings of Peter Doig gets a very different lease on life as jewelry in the Winter 2021-2022 men's collection on.dior.com/menwinter21-22 by Kim Jones. The collaborating artist's symbol is the motif standing proud against a blue glass background on a white crystal regalia-style ring and matching or all-metal earrings.

文革結束那些年，在廣東美術界流行起中國畫來，原來畫油畫、作工藝美術的都來畫國畫。我原來的同學、朋友中就有不少國畫高手，我開始動筆摸索就在那段時間。取材不外乎「詩經」、「聊齋」，粵北瑤族生活。累積幾年小有所得。1979年我的作品與國畫人物畫高手林墉為香港「明報月刊」同期刊登。
In the years after the Cultural Revolution (late 1970s), Chinese ink painting became popular in Guangzhou art circles. Oil painters and industrial design artists all started doing Chinese ink paintings. Many of my fellow classmates and friends were already exceptional Chinese ink painters and my own forays into the field took place around that time. The subjects were invariably the Classic of Poetry, Liao Zhai (a collection of ghost stories), and the lifestyle of the Yao people in Yuebei (north of Guangdong province). I developed some expertise in the discipline after several years. In 1979, my artwork was featured in Hong Kong's Ming Pao Monthly in the same issue as Lin Yong, a master of figurative Chinese ink painting.
八十年代初到香港那些年，白天畫油畫，晚上就畫水墨畫。每畫必作構圖小稿，甚而初稿，再行落墨揮寫。畫詩經「碩人」，畫曹植筆下的「洛神」，畫「聊齋」的鬼狐，畫瑤族姑娘。何以那時對中國畫水墨人物如此狂熱？還想以此有番作為？回想起來，我也不明所以。來台之初還未放棄畫國畫，直至八十年代末尾才徹底轉入油畫，再也沒有時間碰水墨畫了。
In my first few years in Hong Kong during the 1980s, I worked on oil paintings during the day and painted with ink at night. For every painting, I would create a small sketch or even initial draft before putting ink to paper. I painted 'Shuo Ren' from the Classic of Poetry, 'Luo Shen' as depicted by Cao Zhi, the demon fox of Liao Zhai, and Yao maidens. Why was I so obsessed with painting characters in ink? Why did I seek to make a career out of it? My reasoning at the time now eludes me. I had not yet abandoned Chinese painting when I first came to Taiwan, but by the end of the 1980s my attention was fully directed towards oil paintings and I had no time for ink paintings any longer.

For more than 8 years I have seemed to be in my room working on my drawings, I have not stopped drawing almost every day. I didn’t often chill out with my friends...and didn’t go to crowded places when it was not needed. I just stayed at home, drew and drew....

At the end of 2018, the National Palace Museum (NPM) collaborated with HTC's virtual reality team, VIVE, in organizing a state-of-the-art exhibition in the museum's main building,"A Journey Inside Paintings and Calligraphy- VR Art Exhibition". The exhibition showcases VR installations inspired by three different works of art from the museum's collection. It is also the first ever large-scale VR art exhibition featured in a museum with a permanent ancient Chinese art collection. Through virtual reality technology, we can now enter the extraordinary world of ancient Chinese art and calligraphy, and view the artworks in a new light and in ways never before thought possible.
2018年底，臺灣國立故宮博物院(下簡稱故宮)與HTC宏達電的虛擬實境技術團隊HTC VIVE攜手，在台北故宮正館內舉辦了院史第一次的VR藝術體驗特展，展名為再現傳奇。展覽集結了三個依據不同書畫藏品製作的VR作品同時展出，也是全球中國古美術領域類型博物館首次的大型VR體驗特展。從親身操作書法大家揮毫情境的書法VR:「自敘心境」(唐 懷素《自敘帖》)，到穿越時空，徜徉於濟南山水間的繪畫VR:「神遊幻境」 (元 趙孟頫《鵲華秋色圖》)，將數位書畫藝術帶入了新的紀元。
展廳的設計上，為了讓觀眾能安全地在遊戲範圍內戴著VR頭盔探索畫中世界。展區安排了一對一服務的工作人員隨時在玩家旁協助，並在體驗區加設地毯、幫助玩家判斷安全且正確的體驗區域。本次展廳分成四個VR體驗區以及中央一影片觀賞區。體驗區內容除了上述VR作品，更有2018年VIVE團隊以故宮《清院本清明上河圖》為藍本開發、與故宮共同推出的「清明上河圖系列VR」。玩者能微觀的細細賞玩畫作中的人物、街景、建築、民俗活動，或巨觀的在古畫時代中進行互動遊戲。
在這個展覽中，觀眾能透過繪畫研究以及現代科技，進入難以領會的古代繪畫和書法世界之中，改變了以往人們觀看書畫的方式，並能以前人無法想像的方式參與其中。

❖ There are many people who ask me which brushes are the preferred brushes to use for beginners.
My answer to them is that all the brushes are great to use and compliment each other.
My brushes are not expensive to purchase, they cost around $1-4 USD, some prices may vary on the different brushes used duo to special use of each brush.
Remember that with each brush you use you will have a different experience and a range of different feeling.
The important thing is that you and the brush work as one to find the balance between creation and skill.
The artist's hand is very important in making the painting and to feel the way the water on the brush moves as the brush creates the ultimate master piece.
