Pharrell Williams releases new #song “100 Years” for the first time in #China to raise awareness about #globalwarming. But this song was heard only ONCE!
Pharrell teamed up with French luxury brand LOUIS XIII to create “100 years” - a song
we’ll only hear #IfWeCare is a call to action, to inspire people around the world 🌎 to care for the environment.
But it was only heard ONCE on Monday (13 Nov 2017) by 100 guests in #Shanghai. After which it was locked up in a vault never to be heard for the next 100years in 2117.
“There’s just one catch: the safe will self-destruct if submerged, meaning if water levels continue to rise, the song will dissolve and be lost forever. Thus, the piece transcends music and becomes protest: a blatant reminder that what we do today will effect generations to come.” (#legend)
The french luxury house thinks in centuries because that’s how long it takes to create Louis XIII cognac.
I was fortunate enough to one of the 100 guests to have heard the song. And my best description of it? A mix of folk & melodic rap. Did I like it? YES!
And the lyrics I like the most?

This is the 2nd time Louis XIII has collaborated with a celebrity to raise awareness about global warming. 2 years ago they teamed up with JohnMalkovich to create “100 Years: The Movie You Will Never See”.
