身為曾經被All Reject的平凡人，在Studybroad版看到的這句話，
給我帶來莫大的鼓勵。當時就已決定，如果將來有錄取的一天，

動機:
在這個3.4都說自己是低GPA的時代，2.86真的很低，
也因此從來沒想過要到國外唸書。
開始萌生想出國的念頭，是在就讀研究所期間到IBM實習，
認識了許多就讀國外學校的同事，對於國外讀書及工作環境有了一絲嚮往。
與幾個出國唸研究所的同學聊過之後，決定申請看看，
"反正沒申請到好一點的學校，不如不要出國"
抱持這樣的想法，從US NEWS的排名選了幾間CS/ECE前40的學校送出申請。
等了幾個月，陸續收到學校的Rejection。
"果然，以我的條件還是乖乖待在台灣加班吧"
心裡這樣想的我進入了SNSV當R&D，體驗著類似碼農的工作型態。
雖然辛苦，但是寫code、看code的時候確實有體會到不少趣味。
可惜在一年多後部門工作內容轉變，頓時有從碼農降級雜工的感覺，
正好今年初收到研究所老師的信件，表示我的論文投稿Journal上了。
這時又重新開始思考出國念CS的可能性。
"不同領域的Top Journal和知名公司工作經驗，能彌補GPA方面的不足嗎？"
"真的要放棄現在穩定的薪資和要好的同事、朋友？"
此時浮上心頭的，正是篇首那句:
「伸手摘星，即使徒勞無功，也不致滿手污泥。」
因此，我決定再給自己一次機會去追逐"想像中的理想"，
在六月辭去工作，專心準備考試與申請。
此去，再無退路。
GRE&TOEFL:
多數春季班申請截止日期是在9月到10月，時間其實相當緊湊，
幸好GRE的有效期到11月，讓我省去最花時間的一關。
報名了7月底的TOEFL，過著每天練TPO的日子，
近三年的英文空窗期想用一個多月撿回來確實不容易，
尤其是寫作部分，太久沒看英文Paper後語感句型都下降許多。
詳細準備過程因為分數不高，就不誤人子弟了。
決定申請目標:
決定以春季班為目標後，參考US NEWS排名，找出沒有GPA門檻3.0的學校，
其次去掉沒開春季班、不收第二碩和轉領域的學校，剩下約莫20所，
正好夢幻/主力/保底都有，因此能投的我幾乎都投了。
這個階段非常花時間，Top 120的網頁都看了幾遍，真的可以平常先慢慢瀏覽過。
SOP&CV:
兩次申請我都有請同一家Prooreading(Sofi&Rob)幫忙看文件和推薦信。
除了三年後略為漲價外，個人感覺CV編修有顯著進步，看起來專業不少，
據說是改用Latex的關係。
SOP部份有和主要編輯用Skype討論過幾次方向，
兩次SOP不同的地方在於，前次是寫本身對於Computer Science有興趣；
這次直接表明出國的動機是為了學到進入軟體業必備的知識和技能。
個人經歷和推薦自己的部分大都寫在推薦信中，輕輕帶過就好。
中段寫預計修系上哪些課程，以及就讀該系對找實習/正職能有什麼幫助。
另外到LinkedIn和學校Career Fair網頁查詢該區畢業生進入哪些公司居多，
在末段就寫希望能透過Connection進入這幾間公司。
個人是覺得，學校方面知道外籍學生來美國念MS有一大半是為了找工作，
如果給對方一個已經把未來的路都規劃過的印象，
錄取我對於該校就業數據會有幫助，可能增加一點錄取機會。
當然現在川普上台了，之後會如何也沒人知道...
SOP這個部分也很花時間，針對不同學校規定字數和課程內容客製化中後段，
加上申請旺季和Proofreading信件來回，真的早點寫比較好。
推薦信:
感謝研究所教授和博後學長願意再次幫我寫推薦函。
也要感謝公司主管，雖然已經離職了仍然願意幫忙，
還送我一罐膠水黏信封(UT Arlington要求紙本推薦信)。
推薦信草稿是由我提供，主要根據我和推薦人合作的經歷，
以及在哪些方面表現傑出，推論出申請人具備進入CS領域學習及工作的能力。
例如工作上就寫在專案中負責哪些部分，解決了哪些問題，有很好的Debug和理解力。
學業上就強調研究所成績和獨立研究、發表的能力。
正好配合CV中提到的Journal Paper和參與的專案。
選校:
因為這次丟了很多中後段學校，有幾間馬上就給AD的，像是SCU、NJIT和SIT。
原本是東岸WPI和西岸SCU兩間在考慮，兩間都是就業數據很好的學校。
在Quora/一畝三分地等地方爬了許多文章後傾向SCU，也開始聯絡北加州的朋友。
沒想到就在生日過後收到Stony Brook的AD，真是相當驚喜。
最後就選擇去排名最好而且學費便宜的SBU。
心得:
原本抱持著有學校唸就好的心態，沒想到收到一半以上的AD，
甚至還有30%獎學金的Offer，著實是出乎我意料之外。
至於SBU的AD，版上也有motorix版友與我差不多條件錄取，
或許石溪比較偏好有工作經驗的申請者，而較不看重大學成績，可以參考看看。
近年來申請CS越來越競爭，希望大學GPA較低的同學們不要放棄。
雖然Top10、Ivy League的大門可能沒有對我們敞開，
但在其他部分努力，依然有機會追逐夢想。

原本是打算進去ECE修CS的課，而SV地理位置較好。
且我有ECE的Journal和研究背景可能機會較高，直攻CMU CS有點越級打怪了XD

WES算完2.86->2.94，不過真的超級貴。
SJSU跟SCU分別要不同的WES，花了我348美金。
我不是強者XD
先看申請的網頁是否明文規定，再遍查各方論壇，通常會有人寫信問過。
如果都找沒有就寫信去問Admission Office吧，但只能說凡事都有例外XD
也可能Office回說不會卡掉你的申請，但committee對轉領域不友善。
我是幾乎都遇到有註明歡迎相關領域申請的學校。
