Remember the volcanic eruption in 2010 that caused air traffic in Europe paralyzed for a long time? Iceland's Volcano Eyjafyallajökull it was. (hey, I challenge you to read this name). Iceland is still highly active underground. Look at Geysir.

No I didn't spell it wrong. It's the first identified geyser ever in the world, and all the other geysers were named after this one, which was named Geysir. Which means "to gush" in Icelandic.

This one behind my back is the geyser that is right beside Geysir, named Stokkur, meaning "to churn" in Icelandic. Geysir is not as active as before, and it even stopped gushing hot spring for a few years. Stokkur never stops. It erupts every 5-20 minutes, and it gushes water up to 40 meters high. It happened so sudden that although I knew it's coming, it still startled me quite a bit 😅

It's a major stop of the infamous "golden circle", which is in the southwest of Iceland, about 100km east of Reykjavik. Drive on Route 35 or 37, you won't miss it.
