We went on a 4-hour mangrove tour which was something the kids really enjoyed as they got to feed fish, spot monkeys, visit a fish farm, watch eagles and even explore a bat cave.
The sun was scorching, the sea was choppy and the water was splashing into our boat. The sailor hubby took it all in his stride, relished the experience and let the kids take turns to stand up at the bow of the boat pretending to be the captain.
He is the kind who doesn't mind the waves or the sun in the least, doesn't see a need for sunblock or caps, let the kids climb onto corals (which was how Asher suffered dozens of cuts on the first day), brings flashlights so as to go night fishing with the kids and encourages them to be adventurous and free.
It's a contrast from me who is always thinking of their safety, afraid of sunburns, worry about the kids falling sick and being a little paranoid when they go too near to the sea or out of sight. It's why every trip is also a learning experience for us as we learn to work on our differences, make compromises and keep everyone safe yet not diminishing the fun in any way. I kind of think we make a good team and balance each other out because of the way we are, so every holiday for us is an adventure and a precious time for us to remember.
The kids are enjoying themselves for sure despite the cuts, fever, coughs and sunburns. Even the hubby is sick too but yeah, we are all doing fine. Haha. Till more updates from our fun times in Langkawi! See my highlights for more, yeah?
