閒聊：比爾梅琳達蓋茲離婚震撼彈
這幾天版面幾乎都被首富離婚的新聞佔據，除非挖洞鑽到土裡面，不然想不知道都很困難。這個震撼彈讓大家難以消化其實可以理解，蓋茲夫婦在去年才在聖地牙哥Del Mar聯手買下一間四千三百萬美金的海邊度假小屋，到至今短短一年的時間就決定中止長達27年的婚姻。
俗話說千金難買早知道，但萬金能買好PR，蓋茲夫婦的離婚聲明是我看過最不令人反感的一組，不像其他名人明星丟下一句「無法和解的意見不合」，反正不愛了劈腿了胖了都能是理由，美國人雖然沒面子的牽絆，某些東西還是不敢太直白，用意見不合糊弄是一貫的作風。但仔細看蓋茲夫婦的聲明，每句用詞都是小心縝密的再三思量才撰寫出來，聲明第一句就說，”After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship,…” 換言之就是雙方在私底下都做過一定程度的努力，可能是尋求諮商、溝通協調、家庭會議等，即便沒有明講，平靜字句底下的千言萬語呼之欲出。
蓋茲夫婦不是唯一，皮尤研究所的數據指出，美國熟齡離婚Grey Divorce的比例正在逐年攀升，其中戰後嬰兒潮世代（57-75歲，包含比爾蓋茲和另一個恢復單身的首富貝佐斯）的離婚率飆漲至三倍，而梅琳達蓋茲和貝佐斯前妻史考特所屬的X世代族群則增加為兩倍。AP News在探討這趨勢時指出，雖說每對夫妻離婚的原因都不一樣，卻常看到這幾種狀況，比如雙方財務自主，沒有誰非待在婚姻中不可；空巢後才發現過去忙於孩子而沒啥經營夫妻感情，等到孩子離開才發現兩人的生活早已沒交集；越活越長命也導致長年累月病榻前的照顧、甚至有時候伴侶還因為生病而忘記你的精神折磨等，都是不容易通過的考驗。
熟齡離婚很多時候就如同蓋茲夫婦一樣，不是因為意見不合，誰劈腿誰有小三誰上演世間情，而是年過半百，更知道自己要和不要甚麼，即便雙方用心努力，最後卻還是決定放下離開，各自精采。
祝福蓋茲夫婦單飛順利。無論離婚原因為何，我有預感在他們推動下一個big thing時（比如創立新的慈善基金會或宣布新的推動計畫），在歐普拉的訪問上看到他或她。一邊在豪宅莊園中宣傳自己的big thing，一邊被毆普拉以讓你掏心掏肺的微諮商式訪問，把觀眾想知道的東西全都問出來。
而且還要在周日的電視黃金時段播出這樣。
