VX Gas
[Nerve agents are organophosphate (OP) chemical compounds]
- VX is 100 times as toxic to humans as Sarin (GB), persists in the environment, and is better absorbed through the skin at higher ambient temperatures. VX is 300 times more lethal than tabun on skin (Sidell et al, 1998).
- VX vapor: Ct50 is 10-50 mg/min/cm resulting in death. LCt50 is 10 mg/min/cm (Sidell et al, 1998).
- VX liquid: LD50 (skin) is 10 mg/70 kg man (Sidell et al, 1998). Effects from large dermal exposure may occur as soon as 30 min after exposure or be delayed up to 18 hr following a small exposure.
