#'94年に日本ファルコムが開発、日本電気ホームエレクトロニクスが発売したアクションRPGであり、ドラゴンスレイヤーシリーズの最終作となる第8作目。
また、木屋善夫氏がファルコムで手掛けた最後の作品でもある。
ファルコムが家庭用機に自社として初参入した唯一のシリーズであり、開発段階のコードタイトルは「ザ・レジェンド・オブ・ザナドゥ ～風の物語～」。
ザナドゥの名を冠してはいるが、BGMやシステムを一部継承している程度で世界観やストーリー等の繋がりはない。
基本的なフィールドではトップビューだが、各章の最後のボスステージではサイドビューとなる。
主人公育成はザナドゥ同様の熟練度制を採用し、攻撃はイース等の様な半キャラずらしで行う。
BGMは石川さんを始めFalcom Sound Team jdkスタッフが共同作・編曲。
ザナドゥシリーズの曲がアレンジされていたり、イースの曲や効果音も使われている。

#'86年に日本ファルコムが発売したARPGであり、制作・プログラム木屋善夫氏による作品。ザナドゥの拡張シナリオという形(ザナドゥを所持していないとプレイ不可)での提供だがアイテムやショップ、地形の構成に至るまでの大幅な変更があり、事実上の続編。
モンスターの入れ替え、マップ変更、店の品揃えや価格が差別化等の特徴がある。
BGMは阿部氏と古代氏の共作で、古代氏はマイコンBASICマガジンで"YK-2"名義でFM音源記事のライターをしていた。両氏ともプロコンポーザーとしての記念すべきデビュー作となる。
