When people become old, it’s because moisture is lost from their skin.
It seems that receiving the water of God’s word regularly has the benefit of retaining the moisture in your skin.
“Moses was one hundred twenty years old when he died. His eye was not dim, nor his strength gone.” (Deuteronomy 34:7 WEB)
The word “strength” in the verse above comes from the Hebrew word “leach” which means moisture or freshness.
So it has the idea that Moses’ moisture and freshness was not gone—I believe he still looked physically young even though he was already 120 years old.
This was a man who spoke face to face with the pre-incarnate Christ in the tabernacle.
“Since then, there has not arisen a prophet in Israel like Moses, whom Yahweh knew face to face,” (Deuteronomy 34:10 WEB)
Moses received the life that came from hearing the words proceeding from Jesus’ mouth and experienced an infusion of life every time he went into the Holy of Holies.
When he walked out, his face shone gloriously, reflecting the glory of Jesus.
Today, we don’t have a physical tabernacle and Holy of Holies to visit. However, every time we receive God’s word and come to Him in prayer, we are entering His presence.
“Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a great priest over God’s house, let’s draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water, let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.” (Hebrews 10:19-23 WEB)
Whenever we go into God’s presence with a heart that’s conscious of His love, Grace and mercy towards us, we will receive a fresh impartation of life.
If we entered as a withered brown leaf, we will exit as a healthy greet leaf!
“He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, that produces its fruit in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper.” (Psalms 1:3 WEB)
