Orange BHP Run 2017
The toughest field that I ever ran in the race. Almost 8 or more of them have a better PR than me in their 5000m and this race is a “Must Run Race” for me to see where your standard is.
.
We have our SEA Games 5,000m Silver Medalist, Marathon Bronze Medalist, SEA Games and Ex-SEA Games Medalist, SUKMA Athlete, Local-Elite Athlete were all there in the morning.
.
Had a tough fight with all of them and manage to win a 6th placing with average pace of 3:31 min/km for the distance of 10.70km.
.
Everyone started off very fast, almost 20+ runners were ahead of me and running at around 3:15 or faster pace for the first few kms. I was staying in the second or third pack and maintain the pace.
.
After about 4km, started to take down one by one as they slowed down. Thanks to the hill, I managed to overtook some. So happy to maintain a 3:45 min, 3:35 min, and 3:38 min in the 6th, 7th and 8th km where covered the long stretch of the hill.
.
In the last 700m, I was closing down the gap between the two Kenyans in front of me. Ended with a much faster finishing kick and happy to take down of them.
.
It was a really great and well organised race in terms of the traffic control and the route chosen as I love hills, it just the starting line part is truly a mess.
.
Thanks to all my sponsors @garminmalaysia @lifelineid @worldofsports_my @beetitsportmy @nulivscience @high5sportsnutritionmalaysia
