如何分辨鼻敏感
偶然有噴嚏及流鼻水，是傷風感冒還是鼻敏感呢？兩者容易讓人混淆，是因為它們有相同之處：鼻癢、突發性及連續性打噴嚏，伴隨眼痕、鼻塞、頭痛等症狀，要分辨兩者可留意打噴嚏的時間性；如果屬於鼻敏感，噴嚏在轉季、氣溫突變、早上起床、遇上塵蟎、花粉時會比較多；如果是傷風感冒就沒有時間性，但會出現怕冷、咳嗽、發熱、喉嚨痛、甚至嘔吐或腹瀉等伴隨症狀，一般持續5至7日。
鼻敏感是鼻粘膜因受過敏原刺激而出現的過敏反應，不會傳染他人，一般轉換環境以減少致敏原就可紓緩症狀，遇上春天空氣中花粉比較多的日子宜帶口罩防避；傷風感冒則帶有傳染性，患者宜在家休息，外出時宜戴口罩防止向外界傳潘細菌。

Different types of nasal allergies

When we sneeze and have a runny nose, we may wonder if we are having a flu or a nasal allergy. It is easy to mix up the two because of the similar symptoms: having an itchy nose and it is often sudden and continuous. Other accompanying symptoms include itchy eyes, stuffy nose, and headache.

To tell the difference, we can pay attention to the time when we sneeze. If it were a nasal allergy, we would sneeze more frequently when there is a seasonal change, a change in temperature, during early morning, or because of dust mites and pollen. On the contrary, a flu can occur at any time, and individuals will cough and vomit, develop an aversion to cold and sore throat, and experience diarrhea. The condition would last between 5 and 7 days.

Nasal allergies happen when an allergen triggers an inflammation of the nasal mucosa, and it would not spread to others. A change of the environment or reduction of the allergen can relieve the allergic reaction. It is also good to put on a mask during spring as it can filter out the pollen in the air. A flu, on the other hand, is infectious. The patient should stay home and rest, and put on a mask to avoid spreading it to others.

將動物的毛皮製成服飾的皮草產業，除了造成對動物的傷害以外，也對環境帶來重大的污染。動物排放的糞尿和氣味，還有處理皮草時所用的有毒化學品等酸性防腐物質，會強烈侵蝕土壤和水體，造成不可逆的污染，環境代價相當高。另一方面，從養殖場逃出的動物，也可能成為對當地生態的威脅。皮草養殖場還存在著傳播人畜共通疾病的問題，新冠肺炎(covid-19)已讓丹麥、荷蘭等十個國家的養殖場中的水貂生病，數百萬水貂因此被撲殺。此外，在加工過後，皮草製品上的有毒物質，如六價鉻（容易造成腎臟、神經和生殖系統損傷）、甲醛（誘發過敏和癌症）和鉛等，都威脅著消費者的健康。

由於動保和環保意識逐漸提高，店家往往聲稱自己賣的是人造皮草，但是，很多皮草的價格低廉，甚至沒有成份的標示，連專家也僅能用「燃燒法」來辨別真假。如果大家在商店裡看到了毛絨絨飾品，請小心謹慎地避開它們，幫助每年數千萬隻的動物和環境不受傷害。

Furry foxes, minks, raccoon dogs in the forests, along with cats, dogs and rabbits near us are cute, are they not? But they often die because of their beautiful fur.

Other than hurting the animals, fur also pollutes the environment. Animal waste and toxic chemicals used to preserve fur erode the land and the water, cause irreversible contamination, and impose great cost to the environment. At the same time, animals who escaped from factory farms can also threaten the local ecology. Fur farms also contribute to the spread of pathogens between animals and humans. Because of COVID-19, Denmark, Holland, and about ten other countries have culled millions of minks. In addition, after industrial processing of fur, fur products all contain toxic chemicals, such as hexavalent chromium that harms the kidney, the nervous system, and the reproductive system, formaldehyde, a carcinogen and an allergen, and lead. All these chemicals threaten consumers’ health.

Because of the increasing awareness around animal welfare and the environmental problems, many businesses would claim that the fur they sell is synthetic. However, many fur products are sold at a very low price and are not properly labeled. Even experts can only identify if the fur is synthetic by way of burning it.

Haku had (probably) an allergic reaction. The vet thinks it's likely eosinophilic granuloma complex, based on a biopsy that showed a lot of eosinophils in his skin. EGC is basically an immune system overreaction to an allergen. He's totally okay other than being itchy and a little bald!
