【深化臺美教育合作 植樹節共同種樹救地球】

本校與臺灣傅爾布萊特學術交流基金會於2021年3月12日上午在農業試驗場舉行植樹活動。適逢植樹節，讓此活動更別具意義。

該基金會的「種樹，救地球」倡議活動，鼓勵傅爾布萊特之友於所屬學校植樹美化環境並降低碳足跡。本校、學術交流基金會、美國在台協會及捐樹單位樹花園股份有限公司共40餘位外賓及教師學者共同參與此盛事。

周家蓓副校長表示，本校與該基金會已有長久合作關係。透過傅爾布萊特計畫來訪本校的學者已達200餘位，本校亦有多位師生赴美訪問，對於增進臺美學術與文化連結有極大助益。另基金會那原道執行長提及，於臺大舉辦的植樹活動為提出該倡議後在臺種植的第18棵樹。樹木的扎根，象徵本校與學術交流基金會之間友誼的深化。

此植樹活動不僅貫徹本校注重環境永續的精神，更期望與該基金會攜手促進臺美更多元密切的合作。

The NTU-Fulbright Tree Planting Initiative ceremony was held today at the Experimental Farm of NTU’s main campus. Today, March 12th, coincides with the annual Arbor Day in Taiwan, making this event even more meaningful.

This initiative started on April 2016 when a tree was planted in Washington D.C. to honor Senator J. William Fulbright. Since then, Fulbright Taiwan has extended this tradition to as many campuses across the island. The ceremony warmly gathered over 40 Fulbright scholars, NTU grant recipients, representatives from American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), Fulbright Taiwan, and Treegarden who generously donated the tree.

During the ceremony, NTU Executive Vice President Dr. Chiapei Chou reasserted the strong partnership between NTU and Fulbright Taiwan over the decades, with more than 200 scholars hosted by our university and numerous NTU members benefiting from the Fulbright grant opportunities.

In addition, Fulbright Taiwan’s Executive Director Dr. Randall Nadeau mentioned that this is the 18th tree planted in Taiwan, he believes that the rooting of the trees symbolizes the deepening friendship between NTU and Fulbright Taiwan. He hopes that more scholars from both sides can participate in the Fulbright Program and continue strengthen the academic exchanges and cultural connections.
