Endemic to the island of Borneo, the Sabah bamboo pit viper, is a venomous pit viper species. Adults can reach 62cm in length and they are commonly found in mountainous regions at altitudes from 1000 to 1150 meters.

Mari Mari Island mornings were one of the finest island mornings I've ever experienced. The island offers day tours from 9 am to 3 pm every day, but the best part is that it gets completely empty after that, so you basically have the whole island to yourself! 😍
.
There is just one resort called Mari Mari Island Lodge managed by @riverbugasia on the whole island with a few huts that offer really mesmerising views of the sea, offering the perfectly slow & calm island life. And oh my my, it was one of the best decision to go there and wake up to monkeys in the balcony, have clear skies in the mornings and windy weather in the evenings, meet fellow animals of the planet, and swim, kayak and snorkel in the calm sea 🏖

Though I got a bit panicked when I saw a couple of monitor lizards there, but as I soon as I got comfortable with those, a cute little snake popped up in my balcony. Turns out it was highly poisonous Borneo pit viper, oops! Not so cuter after all haha. 🐍
.
But, if given an opportunity to experience it all again, I would be the first one ready to scare myself haha. 👻
.
So here are the things I loved the most about Mari Mari Island:

👉 Less touristic (except 9 to 3)
👉 In the heart of nature
👉 Super friendly people at the resort
👉 Lots of activities to do in the day, such as Kayaking, swimming, and snorkeling
👉 Calm, soothing, slow-paced vibe
