ย้อนหลังไปเมื่อ 10 ปีก่อน
Robin Zeng มีวิสัยทัศน์ที่ว่า ต่อไปในอนาคต รถยนต์ไฟฟ้าจะเข้ามามีบทบาทมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
บวกกับรัฐบาลจีน เริ่มส่งสัญญาณที่จะออกนโยบายผลักดัน ให้คนหันมาใช้รถยนต์ไฟฟ้ากันมากขึ้น

ดังนั้น แบตเตอรี่ ที่เป็นส่วนประกอบสำคัญ และหัวใจหลัก ของรถยนต์ไฟฟ้า จึงต้องเป็นที่ต้องการของตลาดอย่างหลีกเลี่ยงไม่ได้
เขาเลยตัดสินใจก่อตั้ง CATL ขึ้นในปี ค.ศ. 2011

Lemonade เป็นบริษัทที่ทำธุรกิจที่เรียกว่า “InsurTech” ถูกก่อตั้งโดย Daniel Schreiber และ Shai Wininger เมื่อ 5 ปีก่อน

InsurTech ย่อมาจากคำว่า Insurance และ Technology
หรือก็คือธุรกิจประกันภัย ที่ใช้เทคโนโลยีเป็นตัวขับเคลื่อน

โดย Lemonade ได้นำเทคโนโลยีปัญญาประดิษฐ์ หรือ AI มาใช้เพื่อวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลของลูกค้า เพื่อเสนอราคาค่าเบี้ยประกัน รวมถึงการจ่ายเงินเคลมประกันของลูกค้า

สำหรับแบบประกันที่ Lemonade ให้บริการ ณ ปัจจุบัน ก็คือ ประกันภัยอสังหาริมทรัพย์ เช่น บ้าน และคอนโดในกรณีที่มีของหายหรือสิ่งของในที่พักอาศัยเกิดการชำรุด และประกันภัยสำหรับสัตว์เลี้ยง

สิ่งที่น่าสนใจก็คือ บริการทั้งหมดนี้ถูกดีไซน์ออกมาเป็นแอปพลิเคชันบนสมาร์ตโฟน
ที่มีแช็ตบอตคอยช่วยเหลือผู้ใช้งานอยู่ตลอดเวลา

เรื่องทั้งหมดนี้จึงทำให้ Lemonade มีค่าเบี้ยประกันที่ถูก เพราะบริษัทไม่จำเป็นที่จะต้องจ้างพนักงาน หรือนายหน้าประกัน

แล้วที่ว่าเคลมได้เร็ว มันเร็วขนาดไหน?

ในช่วงของการแถลงข่าวเมื่อ 2 ปีที่แล้ว
Daniel Schreiber ผู้ก่อตั้งบริษัท Lemonade ได้กล่าวว่า บริษัทของเขาได้สร้างสถิติโลกด้วยการจ่ายเงินเคลมประกันอย่างรวดเร็วให้กับเจ้าของเสื้อกันหนาว Canada Goose ที่ถูกขโมยไปจากที่พัก

โดยกระบวนการเคลม เริ่มต้นจากผู้ใช้งานแจ้งเคลมไปยัง Lemonade ผ่านแอปพลิเคชันบนสมาร์ตโฟน

ปี 2019 รายได้ 1,940 ล้านบาท ขาดทุน 3,300 ล้านบาท

รายได้ เพิ่มขึ้น 192%
ขาดทุน เพิ่มขึ้น 106%

จากผลประกอบการ เราจะเห็นได้ว่าแม้ว่ารายได้ของ Lemonade จะเติบโตสูงมาก
แต่ทางบริษัทก็ยังขาดทุนสูง เพราะบริษัทจำเป็นต้องดึงผู้ใช้งานให้เข้ามาอยู่ในระบบ
ให้มากพอ เพื่อพลิกกลับมาทำกำไรในอนาคต

และเรื่องดังกล่าวก็ถือเป็นความท้าทาย และสิ่งที่ Lemonade ต้องพิสูจน์ว่าโมเดลธุรกิจที่กำลังทำอยู่นั้น จะยั่งยืน และประสบความสำเร็จได้ในระยะยาวหรือไม่

แต่นักลงทุนทั่วโลก ก็เหมือนจะมองข้ามไปอนาคตกับสิ่งที่ Lemonade กำลังทำ สะท้อนให้เห็นจากการที่ Lemonade ได้จดทะเบียนเข้าตลาดหลักทรัพย์ไปกลางปีที่ผ่านมา
และมีมูลค่าบริษัทสูงถึง 1 แสนล้านบาท
