It is expected that there will be soooooooo many people in Tai O in this weekend.
Tai O is already filled with Lanterns! Will you see me in Tai O this weekend? Probably no, as it is tooooooo far away from the city centre… it takes me at least 5 hours travelling time in total. But Tai O is definitely a place that worths visit - Best preserved fishing village in HK. Consider to wait till 6:30pm for all the Lanterns to light up 😍
Tips: Staying in Tai O overnight is a good idea, but the only hotel - Tai O Heritage Hotel @taioheritagehotel has only 9 rooms and is always full. So you better plan ahead of time and book months in advance.
Make sure you get the ferry tickets back to Tung Chung as soon as you can. The ticket kiosk near Tai O pier opens at 1pm and ticket sold out very soon!
How to go: Take bus 11 from Tung Chung Town Centre to Tai O bus terminus

Finally we managed to see these beautiful lanterns in Tai O! Probably you can only see them during Mid-autumn festival.
We didn’t wait til 6:30 for all the Lanterns to light up. Make sure you get the ferry tickets back to Tung Chung as soon as you can. The ticket kiosk near Tai O pier opens at 1pm and tickets sold out very soon!
Swipe to see my favourite photo of today that the uncles are taking pictures of the salty fish 🐟
Luckily it is not as crowded as yesterday (the queue for buses in Tung Chung was crazy yesterday!) But the queue for ferry to Tung Chung is still crazy 🤓 (Swipe for video)

This is the first time we had a panoramic view of Tai O, overlooking both Macau and Shenzhen!
Tai O is one of the oldest and best preserved fishing village in Hong Kong (also my favourite!). It can take you as much as 2 hours to get into Tai O but it definitely worths exploring!
So many interesting stories behind and so many you can eat here (Hakka teacake 雞屎藤, Begonia drink 紫背天葵, chargrilled fish roe 燒魚春 and how can you miss shrimp paste 蝦醬 <- only if you are an adventurous food lover🤭)
My favourite must be the 20-minute boat-ride, which allows you to have a closer look at the tradition stilt houses and lives of locals. It costs around HKD$30 only!

Last month, the Government was discovered to be tempted to hold a consultation over "Construction development at the country parks in Hong Kong", and there were even some government officials claiming that they have never been to any country parks in their lifetime, there's no problem of construction at these country parks. I find his words offensive and deplorable.I cannot think of anything to say, except to make a video about Hong Kong's country parks, to show the innate beauty of the country parks to the general public. Although certain policies or plans have not been introduced yet, there is no guarantee that similar plans would not be proposed again by the Government again in the future. I just wish that this video can arouse all your attention, to take action and to conserve our country parks for the sake of our next generation.
Since 2013 June, I have started to produce this time lapse by taking photos everywhere in Hong Kong in my free time, and the places appearing in the video are as follows, Lugard Road, Po Toi Island, Shek O Country Park, Cape D'Aguilar Marine Reserve, Tai Mo Shan Country Park, Sai Kung East Country Park and Lantau North Country Park.
Gear: Canon 5D2, 6D, EF 16-35L II, EF 24-105L, Sigma 15 fisheye. No motion control unit is used.
If you like this video or you are unwilling to see our scarce country parks being redeveloped into blocks of residential flats, please like or share it.
But, if you find the video is a waste of time or of poor quality , you are welcomed to leave a comment here.
